Here’s another coin I submitted at the last Long Beach show that I just received the TrueView of. Guess what grade PCGS gave it? Thanks, in advance, for your participation 🌞

PCGS gave it a 65 🌞

Yowsers that’s a beautiful one. I stick at guessing grades but I am good at picking out eye appeal and this one has it!

    Depends when it was graded.
    5+ years ago I’d say 65.
In today’s climate I wouldn’t be surprised at 67FBL since PCGS only looks at top set of lines.

PCGS gave it a 65 which is pretty much what I expected. I submitted it because I thought the toning looked unusual and cool. I’m very happy with the grade on this one.

I am so far afield from most everyone else. I shall not give up but I don’t see the beauty of it. So much to learn. Sorry, sure didn’t mean to dis your coin.

That’s ok. I hesitated for several years to submit this coin, it’s unusual toning is both attractive and unattractive at the same time to me. If I focus on Franklins face and nose, the toning pattern in front enhances its appearance, but if I focus on Franklins bald head it looks weird.

Thanks Spud. AT,NT and overall wear complicate the situation. Just when I think I’m getting a tiny handle on it 😂. Live and learn

That reminds me, I did an AT or NT post on this very coin over 10 years ago just because the toning looked so unusual to me and everyone who responded thought it was NT and most mentioned that they liked how it looked. Here’s the picture I posted with the new TrueView underneath. The toning doesn’t seem to have changed over the years. The TrueView brought out the color better than my picture in the area in front of the face.

Wow. Add photography to my research. Actually I’m getting a better handle on how photos work. Lights and such. The pictures sure tell me a story, again. Thanks. I can see how perhaps this is a good example of this coin in hand would help me. “Onward through the fog”😉

I have a Franklin that is not quite a lustrous but similar toning. I submitted it to ANACS and told a friend of mine that it was a 63 but will come back as a 64 because of the toning. It came back as a 64. I see yours as a 64 with a bump to 65 due to the toning.

Probably a stupid Question but, Would PCGS even "TrueView" a details coin?

I knew this coin would get a details grade, after asking on this forum, but sent it in anyway because it’s Mrs_Spud’s great grandparents coin and we wanted it in a slab with a Trueview and all that. I’m very pleased with it actually, no plans on selling it ever🌞
