Has Trevor Lawrence been mishandled this year?

DarinDarin Posts: 6,987 ✭✭✭✭✭

Remember at the start of the year all the hype surrounding Lawrence? Now you don't hear
anything about him at all unless its the 2 or 3 picks he throws every game.
Has he even had a decent game at QB this year, I know his QB rating is extremely low.
Should he have been thrown in as the starter right away or given time to learn before being the starter.

Its seems like his situation is the opposite of the Mahomes situation. Patrick was on the sidelines for a year
learning from an excellent starting QB, Alex Smith, and an excellent head coach, Andy Reid.
Then when Mahomes became the starter his second year he had Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce to throw to.
Lawrence didn't have any of that, his head coach has been fired, he didn't have a veteran QB to learn from,
and he didn't have any great receivers to throw to.

I'm just hoping Lawrence didn't get off to such a bad start in his career this year that he loses confidence
in himself and his abilities. I like the kid and hope he succeeds Anyone have any thoughts on the subject?

I can’t imagine how he hasn’t been mishandled this year, that clown Meyer definitely didn’t help him

I suspect that if TL was asked the question, his answer would be, "Yes."

It sure hasn’t helped him. But he doesn’t have a lot of help on offense. Remember this team won one game last year. If the GM drafts correctly the next few years we may see the real TL.

Urban Meyer mishandled that situation, no doubt about that. I like Trevor Lawrence and I hope he makes it.

At one point during the Rams/Jags game, Lawrence came off the field and went over to Meyer and the two of them engaged in a "discussion.." It didn't appear to be of the friendly type. From what I heard, Lawrence was not happy about the way he was being handled. I think perhaps that Lawrence's opinion of the head coach was the final straw. He would have been fired regardless, but do think that the topic of their sideline discussion was part of it. Who knows?

That's interesting. I never really got a chance to watch any Jags games and was kind of wondering
what the Lawrence/Meyer relationship was like. Thanks for the insight.
I hope he ends up having a good career, he seems like a good kid.

Ah yes, Urban Meyer, it was one heck of a ride, and of course he will be inducted into the Jaguars ring of honor....

And a Subway commercial getting the girls, well, Giddy! So Lawrence gets all the "Perks" without having to actually get hit by 300 pound lineman in a real NFL game????
Where do I sign for that contract??????
