1978 Topps.
I have a 1980 and I grew up a Yankee fan and was not fond of Mr. Brett….
1975 Brett PSA-9...a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
I think you didn't understand the question.
Mintonly….is your point that the unopened boxes have a more uncertain future value? Or something else.?
I'd take the Brett because I have no willpower and would open the boxes as soon as I got them in my hands!
BRETT ~ 1,2 and 3....
My interpretation of his point is that with the Brett you know what you have, but if you were to open either box you have no idea if you'll get something better or worse. It's a valid point if you were to assume that any purchaser, or ultimate purchaser, would open the box. The Brett is undoubtedly more valuable than any reasonable expectation of the cards to be found in the boxes, but that misses the point that the box has a value independent of the value of the cards inside.

1980 box. Unopened never goes down and I think Henderson rookie will someday surpass Brett.
75 Brett 9. It takes up less space.
The Brett takes up less space and is easier to display still I think the 1980 will appreciate the most. The time for the Brett to sublimate in value has already occurred.
It's the singer not the song - Peter Townshend (1972)
If it was a question of 1978 or 1980 boxes FASC, then I would say 1978, 1980 and 1975 Brett PSA 9 in that order. The limitation on non-FASC future value is that some collectors will assume the key rookie runs will have been picked. If these are non-FASC, then I would say Brett, 1978 and 1980 as the order.
1980 unopened.
1978 cello
JordanGretzkyfan,
Agree FASC will always carry good premium, but is there even known pack / key card sequencing from the 78 and 80 cello packs?
I worry 80 is overall a dead year, limited collector interest, sans the Rickey. 78 seems to have more variety and potential upside with Murray and Mollie + the other usual suspects.

"Purely from a long term appreciation POV" the 1978 Topps Baseball Cello Box BBCE.
Hahaha, I did understand but was trying to have some fun. I would pick the 1978 from a ROI and not think twice as I already have a 1980, so no need to duplicate my "investment". I believe the Brett PSA 9 is a tad overvalued right now.
Good and fun question.
I would take the Brett.
