Rescue from What?

A masterful rendition of the leaping horse, frequent found on coins and medals from Braunschweig. In fact, the vendor listed the medal as being from Lower Saxony, where, I believe, Braunschweig is found. The revere inscription is curious. I believe it translates as Rescue from Danger. Don't know what that danger was (the medal is from 1953, according to the vendor). Maybe a humane society medal, for horse rescue.

For rescuing people, it seems https://second.wiki/wiki/niedersc3a4chsische_rettungsmedaille
Very interesting. I would suspect that this larger bronze medal may have accompanied the hanger.
