Best Trade Coin

Always looking for some new theme to collect, I was inspired by the latest World Coin News article on the Coins of the Year. Actually, in the past, I took little note, but this time my eye was caught by one category, Best Trade (Circulating) Coin. Unlike the other categories which to me appear as a celebration of medallic art, the circulating coin is meant for the general public, at least the way I see it. So here is my first acquisition, the 1988 Best Trade Coin; the 1986 500 Yen from Japan. The coin honors the 60th anniversary of Emperor Hirohito.

Nice coin.
@harasha Love that mum on the rev. By trade coin, does that mean they're used as international bullion? Peace Roy

How is a 500 Yen a trade coin?
I believe it means best circulating coin (used in everyday trade in its own country).
Yes, circulating coin. The category used to be called Best Trade Coin.
