Love this period of coinage !

I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

  • That is a stunning coin. Mine less so, although these aren’t known for their quality.

    A 1653 shilling

  • Nice sixpence.

I’ll add a shilling, which seems to be the most common.

    Commonwealth Shilling (Mintmark Sun), 1651

Tower Mint. Silver, 32mm, 5.8g. English shield within branches of laurel (victory) and palm (peace), sun mintmark, THE COMMONWEALTH OF ENGLAND. English and Irish shields, value XII, GOD WITH VS (S 3217).

After the monarchy was restored was any effort made to recall and destroy the Commonwealth coin issues?

    All glory is fleeting.

Yes. It’s one reason there are so few anchor mintmark coins (the later issues mostly under Richard Cromwell) around now.

  • It’s pretty good we’ve already managed 1650-3 and 1660.
