The cheapskate New York Giants
If you're a New York Giants fan, you're not going to be happy with the giveaway at fan appreciation day.
‘Fan Appreciation Day’ giveaway is a Giant insult for season-ticket holders
A medium soft drink for Giants season-ticket holders? Is that the best that John Mara and the rest of ownership can do?
Fans of the New York Giants probably will not be feeling particularly appreciated with Big Blue's “Fan Appreciation Day” this weekend.
The Giants announced in an email this week that they are celebrating “Fan Appreciation Day” during Week 15 against the Dallas Cowboys. What is the grand giveaway going to be for all the lucky fans? A free medium soft drink (for season-ticket holders only, of course).
It is bad enough that Giants fans have to root for a team that is the worst in their division and has not even had a winning season since back in 2016. Now, season-ticket holders who spent tens of thousands of dollars on seats can’t even get anything more than a medium soft drink (not a large, mind you) for their troubles? It almost might have been less insulting for the Giants to give all of their fans a yo-yo and a paper clip to take home.
There is at least one bit of good news for Giants fans however. As bad as it is, the free medium soft drink for “Fan Appreciation Day” is not even the worst giveaway we have seen from a New York professional sports team.

They couldn't even make it a large, it has to be a medium.
No special cup
it's actually a magnanimous offer, as a medium soda at an NFL game will normally run you about 37 dollars
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Much too funny! LOL
At every Kansas City Royals home game, they have 2 locations in Kaufman Stadium where they have a Miller Lite designated driver kiosk where you go to "promise" to be a designated driver. They slip a wristband on you and then they give you one voucher, sometimes 2 if it's hot, for a free soft drink. This is for all fans 21 and over, not just season ticket holders.
Of course, nothing prevents you from ripping the wristband off and going to the second kiosk for another voucher(s), either, although the 2 locations are about as far apart in the stadium as they can be, so it's a lot of walking just for a free soda... The vouchers are then redeemable at almost any concession stand.
Once you have your vouchers, you can rip the wristband off and proceed to order alcoholic beverages, if that's what you like. The vouchers never expire, as long as Miller Lite stays the primary beer sponsor, so you can save them up for another game when you have a big group, or a bunch of thirsty kids with you. Budweiser also had the same program at Kauffman Stadium for a number of years when they were the primary sponsor.
Pre-COVID, if you bought one of the large sodas in the souvenir plastic cup, there would be a sticker on the side that said, "Good For One Refill Today Only". The concession worker was supposed to take your cup, peel the sticker, and refill your drink. They almost never bothered with peeling the sticker, so you could just go back again and again that day. If you were really cheap, you could even take the cup home, wash it out, and take it with you the next game and have them refill it when you get there. They did put a pause on that feature in 2020 and 2021, though, for health safety reasons.
It's ok, Coca Cola is watching all of this, they will have their revenge.
