Morgans....Top 100, Hot 50, WOW.....lists
Post your favorite HARD to FIND VAM...
As I understand the progression the Top 100 was the first to be named. Then came the Hot 50 which were notable hard to find examples that were not included in the Top 100. Finally came the Hit List 40 coins that were not included in either the Top 100 or Hot 50. The Hit List 40 coins are some very rare and hard to find VAMs in their own right. Some of them, if not all, appear to have been discovered after the 100 and 50 lists were completed. The example below is not only a Hit List 40 coin but it is also on the WOW list of extreme VAM examples.
Here is an example of a very rare and very hard to find Hit List 40 coin. It is the 1882-cc VAM 2D or 2E (almost identicle). I believe there are less than 10 that are graded by NGC (PCGS and ANACS do not recognize this VAM). Even though it is not recognized by our host (none of the Hit List 40 coins are) it is still a very desirable coin for the purest VAMMER.
Here are some pics from my example graded by ANACS MS65:

I like how SEGS used to put the "pick up point" PUP on the label for us VAM-ignorant collectors. Anywho..
Both those CCs are really noice tho! Want to add a CC to my type set and only other relatively cheap option is a 1876-CC quarter. Guess the VAM thing makes it a little more interesting too. Hmm...
Apologies in advance for the postage stamp sized pics but they are from the archives and that is all I have currently.

One of my recent pickups. Really like to know how all the denticle clashes happened.

When I bought this from Bill Fivaz in the early 80's, there were less than 25 known.
