I was clearing the attic and stumbled over my brothers merchandise. I found a Pokémon holographic card called Wartortle 42/102 he collected Pokémon cards 20+ years ago. I cannot find a holographic version of this card anywhere no on eBay or collectors forums. The complete card is holographic including the edges and picture and it’s 20 years old at least. According to online it seems it doesn’t EXIST! Anybody with any knowledge who can help?

Dude, this is a numismatic (coin) forum. Go to the home page and scroll down to trading cards. And welcome none the less. Peace Roy

Sounds like an error card where the regular was printed on a foil background by mistake.
Should be able to sell for $$ on ebay if it is genuine.
No

That card does not match the description given by the OP.
@Rarepokemoncard My wife is into Pokémon cards, I can ask her if she knows anything about that one.

Collecting pokémon cards is silly. Collecting tiny round shiny pieces of metal is sensible? 🤪
See here, not sure if this has all of what you are looking for.

According to PSA only 16 of the 102 cards for the set were made holographic, and it appears that the holo area is just the background of the artwork, not the whole card. So as @yosclimber suggests, probably an error, assuming that it is real.
Here is the PSA cardfacts link for the 1999 first edition set.

I would say it is unlikely since I see two hundred posts for the "rarest Pokemon card" every day on my local facebook buy/sell group
Most likely some bs knockoff sticker something or other..... Post a pic so we can quickly burst your bubble!
At least in the early days of Pokemon, the company would issue special cards to winners and placed finishers of their tournaments. I would say these are probably the rarest pokemon cards in the world.
I had to Google "numismatic"... lol
