Selling with a low post count on the BS&T…

Opinions please.
Many online forums require members to have a minimum post count (usually 100) before they can post items for sale. Up until they reach that mark their username is locked. After that, they can freely post items for sale. So, what do you think?

I think you would just encourage people to post 100 useless posts to clog up the forum board.

You forgot to say IS THIS A DOUBLE DIE SUPER RARE ERROR COIN NO I WONT SHOW YOU A PICTURE ITS WORTH A MILLION DOLLARS I KNOW WHAT I HAVE
My rare "error" is worth a million dollars. You can have it on the BST for $29.95 plus shipping and handling.
Agree that it would be nice if something could be done, not just to make it harder for the noobs from posting their parking lot penny errors, but some of the scammers as well. But I don’t have a solution, and as the host provides this as a complimentary service, it shouldn’t be on them to expend resources policing it.
There’s problems everywhere. Ngc forum. eBay. Here.

Okay, I guess I really didn’t think this through 😆

But your heart’s in the right place!
BST sellers with little reputation should bite the bullet, sell to reputable BST buyers, ship before payment and build up a nice list of references as well as an honorable reputation. After all, that is how most of us had to do it. Our host likely has a legal obligation to monitor the BST and react accordingly to reported scams. We should all be thankful they contiue to bear the risk that they do.
Repetition of ignorance is ignorance raised to the power two.
Maybe it could be tied to the amount of Likes and Agrees so it wouldn't be easy to just run up a post count.
Interesting.

How hard is it to set up multiple accounts (or have friends set up their own) to pass out Likes and Agrees?
Well! It would make it more difficult!

In general I agree with this. But then there are the legit low post count guys. Yesterday I was looking at a post selling $500 in silver rounds with a seller post count well under 100. Clicking on the profile shows five years of history and selling and I would have had no problem and little concern with that purchase. So even though I find brand new members with less than 10 post count very suspicious, not all low count members are problems.
number of days active is a better metric than raw post count. Still not perfect
I recently completed a purchase on the BST with a member of limited, but not low, post count.
Because of my long history here on the forum they were willing to ship to me first.
It worked out very well and now that I have built a history with them I would continue with them, specifically.
With others of short history, my first reaction is skepticism and caution. So far, that has worked for me. When I see people scammed on the BST it seems they have set that aside.
I had a board member with 31 post and join 2007 and he sent me 30 peace dollars and 30 Morgan’s before payment with out any hesitation. One of the best transactions I’ve had, just need to put in the time like every one else that has a good rapport with all board members. There is no fast way to the top it takes time and do what you say and you will get there.
Hoard the keys.
The world comes with risks of all kinds, expecting everyone else to protect you is a sure way to be a victim. The BST has never been perfectly safe and never will be, do your due diligence and research exercise some common sense and you will be fine.

Just post a CAC thread...
You forgot to add that it was found in a parking lot

That's why I only valued it at one million.
Blowout Cards has a feedback section and this weeds out the scammers quickly.
It pays to be an active and constructive forum participant.
OTOH... in very few cases as a seller do I get Ebay market prices.
Little benefit from a $$$ perspective.
Guess it works better for active members doing case breaks and trading amongst themselves. Not sure how that would translate into coins.
Doesn't PCGS have their own self contained market place?

Thanks for the shout out, pleasure doing business with you 😉
This is the way I started out 16 years ago, it worked out fine. Just be sure that who you are selling to a buyer that has a reputable personage on the forum. Don't be afraid to pm a known reputable forum member for advice. Good luck.

This topic has been discussed several times in the past. Someone came up with the term "circle-of-trust" to describe those forum members who have actively participated here for a long time and have a history of successful BST transactions. It's a judgement call as to who is in the circle-of-trust. If you are uncomfortable buying from a new member, you can request that they ship it prior to being paid. If they refuse, just move on.
