At Norte Dame....
Who will replace Brian Kelley?
I am curious if Pat Fitzgerald will be in the running or if he would even consider leaving Northwestern?
Last time ND hired a NW coach, it turned out very well. Fitzgerald is still fairly young, experienced and would check several boxes in terms of being a fit.

would Urban leave the Jags?
I think you've hit on something here. Meyer's dismal attempt at being an NFL coach (more than likely to soothe his ego), is embarrassing at best. I think he'd bolt in a heart beat, having the ND job would put him over the moon.
Meyer does however have some baggage behind him, having bolted from both the Gators and OSU over "health issues".
Time will tell.
Knute Rockne , Frank Leahy , Ara Parseghian , Lou Holtz , Brian Kelly . Some mighty big shoes to fill.
Urban Meyer might take that job at Notre Dame, it all depends on one thing, do leprechauns give lap dances?
That's kinda dotting the "i" in Ohio.
However, being a big time Catholic University, the powers to be may have a come to Jesus moment before they sign ole Urban. I'd bet a warehouse of Reese's pies that he's doing some serious behind the scenes activities to enhance his chance to be the chosen one. He did once say that coaching ND was his "dream job". With a 2-9 record, he's probably praying he gets the gig.
Meyer...The source said the 57-year-old coach does not want to reenter the college ranks at this point in his life. College football has changed significantly with the implementation of name, image, likeness rules, which were not in place when Meyer was coaching his final season at Ohio State (2018).
One does wonder why on earth would Kelly leave ND for LSU??
NIL is going to ruin CFB for me. I think it is a big reason Riley went to USC from OU. The LA market is just too huge to ignore when it comes to attracting big time recruits.`
NIL rules is a made up excuse
Oh I'mnot saying it's the only reason he left, but it will impact recruiting. I don't think he wanted to be in the SEC either. We shall see, I guess. I do think he should have been square with Castiglione and Stoops though. He owed those two that much. I guess Stoops is pissed from what they are saying in Norman.
If Bob Stoops is pissed, that would explain this video.
I hear Luke Fickell is a devout catholic.
Terry Bradshaw was AMAZING!!

I would choose Fitzgerald over Meyer. The best days of Fitzgerald's coaching career are ahead of him... he could easily go to ND and spend 15-20 years there. The real question is whether Fitzgerald wants to continue to build his legacy at NW and in the Big Ten or contemplate adding to the ND mystique which Kelley has done so much to restore. That is not an easy decision unless he truly feels a sense that he has accomplished what he set out to do at NW. I doubt he will leave but I suspect there will never be a better time to make this type of move... that is if such a move is even on his radar.
I sort of wonder why Kelley left unless he felt he accomplished all he could at ND. Kelley has already proven himself to be a great coach.

..............
I could see this happening.
Fickell would be an excellent choice as well... I suspect he would be more inclined to go if the job is offered. However, I would choose Fitzgerald over Fickell.

ND Defensive Coordinator Marcus Freeman will be introduced as the new ND Head Football Coach on Monday...

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
Knute Rockne , Frank Leahy , Ara Parseghian , Lou Holtz , Brian Kelly
this is a downward trending curve from where I sit. the fact that Notre Dame has named Marcus Freeman as their new HC, and a rookie HC at that, tells me the curve isn't gonna start trending upwards any time soon.
I don't know anything about Freeman other than he is perceived to be a rising star. I have no insight and thought this would be an interesting story to follow... I wish him all the best as the new head coach

I missed this comment when you wrote it, sorry for the delayed question. I don't know enough about this topic to have such a strong opinion as the one you wrote, and I am curious to know more about why you feel that way. I'm not implying you are wrong, just curious.
