The Binion looks promising. I’m not a fan of the other.

I agree the Binion Collection coin looks nice. Is Binion known for toning?

It's not a hoard known for toners but there are some nicely toned examples in it.
The Battle Creek collection is one of the better known toned collections (Morgans).

Good to know. It would be nice to assemble some photos of these.

It would be good to have some photos of these as well. I know the TCCS had a set but unfortunately their website went down and was not recoverable.

Of note, I don't really see mention of Battle Creek provenance in coins these days, but I do see Sunnywood, Simpson, and AB provenances.

How did prices do overall? I looked up this one posted by @braddick.

1922 Peace Dollar - PCGS MS64 - Ex. Legend Regency Auction (5/18); Great Collections (11/21)

This one took a 44% haircut since last time.

That looks really nice @U1chicago! The fields and cheek look really clean, much better than I'd expect on a 64.

Thank you! The guy who bought it from me and I both thought it was nicer than the typical 64

Very nice! Looks like it was owned by 2 forum members @AuroraBorealis and @bestclser1! I miss both of their posts. I hope AB will be able to post more again in the future.

Love the full provenance and name too.

Unless the photo is deceiving it is too clean for a 64. I suspect you can’t see all the contact marks under the toning. No way is it 64!

It’s not deceiving at all. I owned it and held it in hand. The guy I sold it to also had it in hand. It’s closer to a 65 than a 64. I wouldn’t crack it because of the Binion pedigree combined with the star but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone did and got it into a 65 holder.

Im very happy with the prices realized... granted I bid up a bunch of them but got out bid on every single one despite what I thought were fair bids...

I'm really happy with the hammer price on the Binion toner. I have a small hoard of toned Binion Peace $ that just increased in value. Ive been grabbing these for the past 20 yrs... I used to be able to get them for $200 to $300 - even star examples.

I think the coin Zions listed about was probably overbid in Legacy and underbid in GC.
