1984FM Trinidad Specimen Set - Rare "White Whale"Set Landed
After what has literally been a 25 year search, I was able to uncover and at last secure this set which is really quite rare as I have not seen another and it is unlisted in the major catalogues. This is the uncirculated set and as such extremely difficult to find, moreso than the proof sets of this year that are fairly scarce in their own right. Also, some of the smaller coins may have been issued out into circulation (see the report of the 1984FM 50c that I reported on these boards some while ago).
The story is probably too long for these pages but the set was at last found, apparently bought, lost again, stayed lost, then found again finally with a literal last minute hand-off at the airport. In the intervening week I got a bit of confirming details about rarity as a cousin of my friend actually was working at the Central Bank in Port-au-Spain and noted that there may only have been a couple of sets (as in 3-4 max) available to employees and NOT sold to the public.
Well, just Love coins, period.

Very Happy for you! Congratulations.
25 years of searching and the keeping up the hope of one day finding a set is something that many of us here can appreciate.

Thanks indeed!
Yes, not gold or even silver but a set I like. At least something fairly attractive and quite rare that is at least for now affordable, sort of....
As a collector of the olde school I get these not for flipping but to enjoy and pursuing them is enjoyable.

Congratulations!! (I am a little bit jealous right now haha)
