Are there actually counterfeit sealed packs and boxes of Pokemon cards? Or do scam artists open packs, pull the good cards, replace them with commons and then re-seal the packs?

My son and his friend bought boxes very similar to those from an Ebay seller earlier this year.
The cards in the packs were slick counterfeits and, like your boxes, did not have the correct logo wrap.
