Taco Fall got to play tonight

Steven59Steven59 Posts: 8,684 ✭✭✭✭✭

Wow! Cavs gave the Pistons an old fashioned butt whooping tonight and Taco Fall actually got to play during clean up time and scored a basket!. I'm glad Cavs picked him up from Boston, definitely a fan favorite! Bickerstaff is getting the Cavs to play some serious defense - held Detroit to 78 points (11 in the 3rd) and now sport an 8-5 record without Collin Sexton (may be out at least 4 weeks). I don't care much for the NBA but I gotta root for the Cavs, no big mouths like LeBron on the team, just hard working basketball players having fun.

Coming from a Celtics fan I’m glad to see he’s getting a chance to play but honestly I wouldn’t get your hopes up of him ever turning into a legit rotational player. Although his length helps at times he hasn’t shown that he can keep up with the speed that NBA games play at.
That all being said, the Cavs look like they have a future superstar in the making in Evan Mobley. It was a smart move in drafting him even though they were locking up Jarret Allen long term.

Oh no - I'm not - I was surprised the Cavs kept him cause he kinda sucked when he played in the pre-season. But the fan appeal is definitely there.
And yes, Jarrett Allen and Even Mobley are becoming a force to be reckoned with, you can see their progression with every game.

Taco might get a chance to face the Celtics either in tomorrow night's game or monday. Its an odd quirk to their scheduling with Boston playing the Cavs at home twice in three days, outside of the playoffs you don't see that happen that often.

That is extremely strange. Never saw that before indeed - usually a Home/Away schedule. Hopefully Boston gets the 2 for 1 hotel special - LOL!

Both teams have been playing well lately after slow starts to the season. Boston is 4-1 over their last five games while Cleveland is 5-1 in their last 6. Hopefully we see some pretty entertaining games...and the C's are able to steal at least one win. ;)

DD, Played for UCF in college. Almost upset Duke in either the 1st or 2nd round of the NCAA tournament about 3-4 years ago.

    Supposedly 7' 6" 320. He makes Mobley (6' 11") and Allen (6' 10") look small

He spent the past two seasons splitting time between the Celtics and their G league team in Maine.
Here he is next to Kemba Walker who is 6'-0".

WOW! - That Cavs game was amazing - Boston had them down by 17? at one point in the first half? No Taco tonight but just a fantastic game ........

It was a great game but, man,Boston let this one get away. All of those turnovers just in the 4th alone were brutal but gotta give the Cavs credit they made the plays they needed in the end.
All that being said, that Evan Mobley/Robert Williams matchup definitely lived up to the hype. The C’s should have Horford & Richardson back on Monday so hopefully they can leave with a split.

Edit: on a side note this entire weekend turned into a Cleveland vs Boston/NE series with the game tonight, the Browns/Pats tomorrow then Cavs/Celtics back again Monday. We need to get 2of 3 now. ;)

I think finally Bickerstaff has the players that understand his defensive scheme - and as of Browns without Chub's running game - no way Baker can win this game just with his arm - we shall see! Good luck - it will be interesting.........

Who would have won between Manute Bol and Taco Fall during their prime?

He needs some weight on him - looks like a walking skeleton. And isn't that Spud Webb? Lot of height difference as Spud was 5' 6" in high heels - :D

Manute is no longer around but his kid,Bol Bol, plays for the Nuggets. He doesn't get much run but he can handle the ball pretty well for someone who is 7'-2" as well as hit from three. If given the chance I think Manute's kid could have a better career than his father had seeing he's a better all around player but neither Bol Bol or Tacko will ever be as prolific a shot blocker as Manute was. After Bill Russell & Wilt Chamberlain, Manute might the best shot blocker in NBA history.
Here he is with the shorter player in nba history,Mugsy Bogues.

    great points!

I enjoyed Bol Bol's tape pre-NBA quite a bit. In a perfect scenario, right time and right place, watch out. I just went and re watched some clips of his Dad. I enjoyed him as a player and those videos are great.

My favorite shot blocker is probably Camby. As I said before, I think, I am a huge fan of his.

Taco is interesting only because he is an oddity. as far as a basketball player, he is a stiff.

    slow and robotic

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Bol Bol has a rough road ahead of him trying to steal minutes away from the reigning NBA MVP lol. His best path to more playing time might be hoping that Denver trades him in a deal for another star player.
I was a Camby fan too especially during his Umass days. I think its a crime to talk about the greatest shot blockers in history without knowing how many blocks Russell & Wilt had. Tommy Heinsohn used to say that Russell would routinely get 9-10 blocks a game and that it wasn't an exaggeration.

But as a fan draw his contract of $462,629 for this season is a steal - Cavs season tickets package at floor level & 1st row sections are a bit over $20,000 - so if 20 more people bought season tickets just to hope to see Fall play a few minutes then his salary is easily paid for...........even though so far he has 7 floor minutes and 2 points in 14 games so far.

@erikthredd : Check it out - Taco's on the floor for the Cavs right now in the 1st quarter! Bickerstaff playing a bit of mind games with the Celts?????

Maybe. He's definitely familiar with their offense. We'll see how he does.

edit: his length might be a good counter for Rob Williams tipping offensive rebounds to teammates.

LOL- he's out allready - probably couldn't breath!!! I see now why he's being used tonight. Jarrett Allen is out.

The team was a +5 while he was in there and once they took him out Boston went on a 10-2 run. That might his best role to fill in for missing bigs and put him out there to help protect a lead.
