I’m glad JD is staying put
I would like to see them keep Schwarber
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Schwarber has declined a Red Sox mutual offer, he is now a free agent.
He would be a valuable piece but probably not at an exorbitant price. The sox just got out from under the penalty for overpriced players that are not worth the money and don't need to go through that again. It just ruins their ability to hold on to good young talent.
Don't care to debate anything concerning money with any Red Sox player. They've made far too many stupid moves in the past that I won't list, but the fat loser at 3rd base comes to mind. All I know is what is easily accessible on media websites. I think they are ALL overpaid for an unknown future performance that oftentimes doesn't materialize. MLB is littered with such insanity. Their "jobs" consist of playing a kid's game approximately 3 hours a day, 6 days a week for 6 months, for this they make untold millions and millions.
I don't think Schwarber falls into the exorbitant price range given his already proven abilities. I don't know the machinations of MLB player vs management contractual deals, but if Bloom came late to the party to retain Schwarber, I think he missed the boat.
Whatever the Red Sox management decides to do or not do, really doesn't interest me. Other than having recently heard about Schwarber's declination, I made the Schwarber post. I focus on other things in my life. I still think they performed terribly in August and led to their slipping so far as to fall out of the Division race when they had quite a lead.
