***TIES ARE FOR HOCKEY***

ugh, that was fu(king queer, i cant believe that....no winner, no MVP(THE TED WILLIAMS AWARD, great way to honor him, @$$h0les) ugh....i cant even begin to tell you guys how pissed i am right now...anyone feel the same way?

Comments

  • I can understand calling the game, but no MVP is just plain stupid. I don't like the way the handled calling the game either.
  • I say screw contracting either the Twins and/or Expos I say they contract Selig for being an absolute dumba$$. No winner, no MVP (especially named for a legend that did so much for baseball who I recently got a nice GU pants card of)
I say at least if they have a tie have both an AL MVP and a NL MVP for the game.

    Selig = Super Stupid.

    Thanks

  • I didn't watch...why was the game called?

    very good idea...

  • The thing is, people who really follow and undestand baseball can see why they called the game, but the casual fan can't...it's going to be a big black mark on baseball.

And I think that's great. Screw MLB, and Bud Selig, the worst commisioner ever. I am very proud to say I met Selig at last years congressional baseball game, and I had the joy of telling him "You're going to singlehandedly ruin MLB."
  • Why couldn't they just put the pitchers in the outfield and have Shawn Green and Robert Fick pitch.
I'm looking for anything Yanks, any baseball autos, and much much more on my site. Thanks.

i understand why they called the game... but it definetly could have been handled differently... there is no reason why they should have held up the game in the middle of the 11th and then made that announcement in the bottom right before mike lowell's at bat. that was very poor judgement. and all the talk about having to expand the rosters... i dont think that is the way to handle it either. a lot of the players dont really care if they dont play in the game... so save some... just in case. even a bunch of them said this after the game. that they are just happy being part of the all star team... no one ever said they HAVE to play. i think this is the best way to handle it. if you add more players then you are just adding more people that the managers will try to cram into the games.

are u serious? they didnt want to take a chance on hurting the pitchers by pitching them anymore... talk about taking a chance on hurting a position player... anyone remember jose canseco when he threw out his arm pitching. lol. i gaurentee you that this was never even an option that crossed the managers minds.

  • As i said on a different site i think they should have settled this with mano a mano-. They needed a way to end this game for the fans. So heres my idea. They line up the American League on the 3rd base line and the National along the first base line. Then player by player-one at a time they draw blood an test for steroids. First person to test NEGATIVE-his team wins----

no wait.........................it still be a tie!!!!!

no guys, im a real fan and i UNDERSTAND why they cancelled it, im just not happy that they did...

    lmao tune
  • I am also a real baseball fan and can see WHY they canceled it. They were out of pitchers, and they didnt want to keep using the pitchers they had left cause they would have to start soon. However, they had other options open to them. If this happened any other time, they would have put in a position player to pitch. Position players do NOT get hurt by throwing for an inning. Many do it every year in blowout games. Canseco is the only player recently who got hurt while pitching, and thats cause he was an idiot and tried to throw changeups and curves and sliders. Thats how he screwed up his arm. And position player could just throw the ball over the plate. Or heck if you want to destroy the integrity of the game have the BP pitchers pitch. You gotta play out the game till the end, thats what baseball is about. You dont just give up. You play it out till there is a winner. Baseball has turned into a huge joke. The Great Circus Parade by Barnum & Bailey should have been in town yesterday, it would have been much more appropiate then when it comes in a couple days

  • The should have had Garcia throw some fat homerun balls up there. At least then the game would have a winner ( not really ), and they could have handed out the new T.Williams MVP award.

  • They should have minor leaugers from the Future Game for this reason exactly. And, Barry Zito, one of the best pitchers in the MLB pitches 3 pitches!!! Give me a break!
  • It truly was a very sad day for such a great game.Did anyone happen to watch the AAA All Star game on ESPN2 Wednesday nite.
At the beginning of the broadcast the play-by-play guys were discussing the MLB tie game. They then told the viewing audience
that AAA has a policy in place for such a situation.
They stated that AAA policy is in an All Star game;that if there is a tie score after 10 innings the game is then over.
    WOW,HOW AMAZING!!! A POLICY!!!
You would think with all the so called brain trust MLB is suppose to have that they would have a similar policy;but they don't!!
No wonder the players don't trust these clowns;more & more it seems they couldn't find their way out of a paper bag with instructions!!Now Selig comes out this morning & says 2 teams might fold before seasons end & one of them might not even make payroll next week. This jerk actually wants a strike!! Even using this angle as a ploy is nothing short of criminal. This seems to be just the beginning of another long sad chapter in the history of this great game!

position players do not ALWAYS get hurt pitching... but it is always a possibility. anything could happen in baseball... just look at Geoff Genkins.. all he did earlier this year was run back to third base and he dislocates his ankle. lets say you had shawn green go in there and pitch. What happens if for some reason he hurts himself somehow (you dont have to throw a slider, curve, etc. to get hurt). Then the dodgers are out of their best player and Bob Brenly was responsible for him. You think that the dodgers or its FANS are gonna be too happy about that? Now that would have reallly been a black mark for baseball. Or even if you did put a position player in to pitch... then your pitcher has to go out and play the field... how often do they do that (other then on the mound of course). For an EXHIBITION game you dont want to take any risks... this could have been handled differently but not with the givin situation. The managers would have had to had extra players that they had not put in the ball game yet. That was the only way to solve the situation.

oh and yes garcia could have pitched another inning... but padilla couldnt have... he was stiff going into the game in the 10th and brenly said that there was no way he was pitchin him more then 2 innings b/c of the chance of injury.

and yea... at first i thought garcia was gonna give up a gopher ball too... that would have made things a lot easier on everyone.
