Hey DD

I recently learned that the moon is moving away from the earth at an astounding rate of 1.5 inches per year. I think its a gravity thing.

What is your plan to stop this from happening? Pretty soon (maybe a few billion years), we won't have any tides, and things will really be messed up then.

For me, there are two things that make me conscious of the unknowable vastness of the universe and that our mortality on this Earth is less than the blink of an eye..........sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon under the quiet and stillness of a full moon at Toroweap and The Vulcan's Throne and looking up at the stars....... and laying on the beach under a full moon listening to the sound of the waves break and knowing that quiet and that sound is the constant drumbeat of the planet..... Timeless.

Hey friends...... It's a cosmic miracle beyond human understanding as to why ANY of us are here. Enjoy your life.....it's all you have. Love those around you...... They are .... precious beyond precious. So are you. A gift from somewhere...... God Bless you all.

It's interesting that you bring this up, while I have no idea how to solve the problem, I have been watching a lot of space documentaries lately. There are MANY threats to our existence in space, it is a place filled with threats, black holes, asteroids, gamma ray bursts, comets, and other things that could wipe us out. Our very own sun will one day use up all of it's hydrogen and expand into a red giant and consume planet earth in a fiery blaze. I have often wondered how the world will come to an end and I think about it a lot, it's one of those questions that you want to know the answer to, but at the same time you don't want to know. Very fascinating subject!

There is a new doomsday movie coming out in 2022 called "Moonfall" starring Halle Berry and it's about a mysterious force that knocks the moon out of orbit and sends the moon toward earth, it's supposed to be bigtime blockbuster, I can't wait to see it.

Surely you realize this post was intended as humor. While its true that the moon is in fact moving away at 1.5 inches per year, it will stop moving at some point when the gravitational issue is no longer a factor. It will only impact the human race in many, many millions of years...not next week. Our sun will become a red giant as it dies and expand to the point it will vaporize the earth and the moon. Somebody has some serious planning ahead!!

Much beyond me and my wife's well being. our future trips, and spending our investments, almost nothing bothers me. Right now I'm focused on a road trip in June to as many backroads in Idaho and Montana as I can find. Cruises are booked to the East Caribbean and the Greek Islands next year and more planned.

From the looks of that movie poster that DD posted, the makers of the film may be going with the
theory that the moon was built and put in place by aliens, because hey something aint quite right in that poster. :o

Well, the Lido deck does have some special qualities to enjoy. Easy place to get burgers, hot dogs, soda, etc and ice cream.
There are some passengers who really shouldn't be in a beach-like attire there. Overall, this is why God made sunglasses. The scenery is indeed enjoyable!! B)
I of course am merely going to visit the islands and nap on my veranda as the ocean passes by.
