The end for Superstar receivers

Ok Not all. And maybe not the very end but let’s visit the last few years:
OBJ An absolutely superstar in New York. Released in 2021
Antonio Brown: A superstar in Pittsburgh. Some weird stuff with the Raiders. Not done but not the same
Michael Thomas: A megastar with New Orleans: Injuries have derailed him. Can he come back? Sure but time will tell.
Julio Jones: megastar Last year he was the top receiver pick in many fantasy league. Now just a shell of himself

I think the league looks long Andy hard before they sign a 6-8 veteran to a $20M salary because they want out of some where

These guys bring all the trouble on themselves, the more success they have the more diva they have to be for some reason. Julio Jones has always been a gentleman in my opinion but the rest of these guys that act like complete idiots should just be told to sit down and shut up.

I think NFL contracts should have tighter behavior clauses in these contracts, that way they can keep these guys in line. It wouldn’t be that hard to do, when your signing a guy for huge money it’s all sunshine and rainbows so the love of the big money will let the behavior language clauses slide by the player.

I wonder when all this junk started? I know MIchael Irvin was a loud mouth.

I dont remember the diva stuff from guys like Tim Brown, Issac Bruce or Rice.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I’d say it’s the culture in an organization but Pittsburgh is the most stable from top to bottom as any team.
So when Brown and the RB (name escapes me at the moment) did their dance I can’t say it was culture. Both have sh&t the bed since they left and I might add left huge money behind. I think Lou is absolutely right:

    Holtz is 100% correct.

It was Lev Bell who cost himself big money for his unreasonable stubbornness. He is going to take that decision on the chin when he is out of league and broke paying child support.

My dad was a big Lou Holtz fan and we used to watch Lou Holtz every Saturday on TV when he coached at Notre Dame, Lou Holtz was the kind of coach I would loved to have played for. Some of today's wide receivers should play in expensive fur coats every Sunday, it would be very appropriate.

Chad Johnson of the Bengals was a diva too I believe, the guy that changed his last name to "Ochocinco."

Yes, Johnson was a diva. as was Terrell Owens.

My point was in a blink of an eye the above went from superstar status to after thoughts. It wasn’t a Jerry Rice story where he just got old.

What blows my mind is that OBJ’s teammates love and defend him, which just shows they can’t see the forest for the trees. I’m sure he is a good guy in the locker room, but to anyone paying attention it is obvious he is not a winning player and is an albatross around the neck of whatever team he is on.

I was more suprised Steve Smith “Sr” attacked Mayfield over it, i mean there is a paper trail on OBJ being high maintenance ect.. IDK I think OBJ is capable of marching to his own beat without these other people chiming in.

what would you expect, his teammates should talk trash about him while he's still a member of the Browns and may be back in that locker room with OBJ in a few days?? a assume a different opinion will emerge now that he's gone. and FWIW, I don't think anyone really defended him, they just didn't throw him under the bus........................yet.
