It's been years for me, these were always very popular, and I once stood in line for 45 minutes to get one.

I have several funnel cakes every year at Kauffman Stadium. That's about the only place that I consume them, and it's not every game that I decide to get one. If you get one on a windy day, the powdered sugar will fly all over the people around you, which can be problematic (or amusing - take your pick).
that sure does look yummy.

I’ve never had one, it looks like a fried dough
They are delicious, I could eat 3 or 4 in a row, I used to get them at the fair and the lines are always pretty long. I remember when I was at a water park in Colorado in the late 90s, the line was so long I had to wait 45 minutes just to get one. You can get them with chocolate on them and other stuff but I always get just powdered sugar. They're absolutely delicious!
Italians in NY are undoubtedly familiar with zeppolis which, which are miniature versions of a similar concept. They are addictive right out of the oil and with ordered sugar sprinkled on top.

Oh, now I'm starting to reminisce about going to the fair and amusement parks, candy apples are another one of my favorites.
I remember back in the 90s, my favorite place to go was Myrtle Beach SC, they had an amusement park on the strip called The Pavilion, and you could get an all day pass and ride the rides all day long. We would go there when it opened and stay all day until it closed. The Pavilion closed down back in 2007 I believe, I miss that place so much.
The Pavilion had it all, I rode my first upside down roller coaster there, it was called the corkscrew.
looks like what we call doughboys up here in the north country

I don't think I ever had one - always went straight to the vendors selling Double Cheeseburgers or Italian sausage with peppers and onion sandwiches,
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Nothing wrong with that!
I remember the Pavilion haunted house, one time two guys got off of the ride inside the house and the cops were called and had to flush them out.
And the water ride, man I miss that place.
The big slide.
And of course the ferris wheel.
The old school big drop roller coaster, we must have rode it a thousand times.
Have you ever seen the Candy Apple prank? Instead of an apple, they use an onion.
The Lovely Mrs. Hydrant makes something similar every Sunday morning. Man, its GOOD! She learned it from her Texas Momma. She calls it a DUTCH BABY! .......Oh, those pretty dairy maidens!!!!!.......Sweet Baby Jesus!........THE POWERED SUGAR!!!!!!
And.....Dutch Babies come out of the oven looking like a funnel. Tunnel???? They are round and in a long tube. Not like a powered doughnut. Those Texas girls.....Best looking...... Best cooking..... Best Everything!
P.S.....You haven't lived until you've had an Ozona Texas pounded chicken fried steak with white gravy!!!..... and a baked potato......nothing else.
Thank God for Texas girls! Just sitting back in the kitchen with a brew and watching those Texas gals pound that meat is worth the price of admission.....Oh, The Women's Movement!. I' be always been behind it!! 🍺 👀 💃
I haven't seen it, sounds disgusting, I hate onions, always have, it's a useless weed!
Yes, powdered sugar rules!
The cotton candy, we laughed, we cried.
A seat from the haunted house ride sold at Worthpoint auctions a while back.
The swing ride, loved it!
Dippin Dots, I was addicted.
The place was fun at night with everything lit up, the Caterpillar!
up.
The pirate ship ride that swung back and forth!
The Rainbow ride that took you way up in the air and back down in a clockwise rotation real fast.
A view of the Pavilion from the strip.
Down the street from the Pavilion was the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum and the building had a crazy design.
Actually I just had one this weekend at the Renaissance festival. Always a great change up.
Ounce by ounce the stack grows .
.......... sounds disgusting, I hate onions, always have, it's a useless weed!
I love onions! The Little Hydrants love planting onions all around the house. I tell them that onions keep the rattlesnakes away and if they don't plant them they can't go outside and play. It works. They like to watch them grow and Little Jenny is constantly picking them and bringing dirty onions in. Good for her. PLUS......Onion Rings made from fresh picked onions are AWESOME!...... Another Texas Babe specialty!!!!! ......I thought I liked you, DD. I have to rethink it.
P.S. Hey, I got tagged by a Sidewinder last year. Lucky to be here. On Sunday I smashed another one. 6 this year. Welders gloves, boots, and a 12 guage. That's the dress code around here. ......I love onions...... I think that's what saved me......nothing can penetrate that smell and whatever it puts in the bloodstream.....not even rattlesnake venom!....I LOVE ONIONS.
Makes me think of the movie Sandlot and the kids chewing Redman.
I do like Funyuns, but that's it, that's all I can take, it's my broccoli!
Funyuns suck.......only crack heads eat those.....the medium sized bag........BARF CITY!
Broccoli is good....... maybe you're not such a bad guy after all.
DD.. Butter.....cheese sauce...... Broccoli is good......A pinch of salt sets it off. I love broccoli. I like cauliflower more.....Do you like cauliflower?..... I do. The bugs around here don't mess with the cauliflower...... Why is that?
Potatoes, I can eat potatoes every day, I never get sick of them!
Do you eat the skin? I do. My Mommy told me when I was a baby that the skin makes big muscles. I eat the potato skin. Works for me.. Mom's know best....👩👦 💪
Hash browns are my favorite form of potatoes..and tater tots!
