Has anyone showed an exhibit at the ANA WFOM before?
I am thinking about putting together an exhibit for next summer, and I'm looking for advice on best practices from those who have some experience.

Maybe @ThePennyLady can give you a few pointers, she has won awards for several of her exhibits.
I actually took a class from Larry Sekulich at the Summer Seminar on how to put together an exhibit which helped a lot. The main thing is you need to follow all the rules to the tee, have an interesting topic, a fun but informative title, and eye-catching appearance (sort of like scrapbooking). Best of luck!

Yes. It might help to try it at a regional or local show first to get some feedback from the judges. That gave me several good tips when I started. Also helps with the logistics of packing everything to take along.

My first ever ANA national show entry. The Stars and Stripes ribbon was a unique way to frame the exhibit contents.
Also, properly select your exhibit category. In my opinion the literary category is one of the toughest.

Great info and congrats @DrDarryl ! That award is well deserved!

Yes, I totally agree. In fact, a few months before the 2019 Summer ANA, I set my exhibit up at another show and asked Joe Boling to critique it. Wow, that was an experience - I felt like I was back in school taking oral exams! But it paid off as you can see:

Any suggestions of a Regional show before summer ANA that has judged exhibits? I'm in the Northeast so that would be preferable.

That sounds like a wonderful idea! Unfortunately I don't think I could justify the travel expense to the Summer Seminar for this purpose right now. Maybe someday.

As an ex-New Yorker, I'd love to recommend a show in New York State but there's nothing worthwhile in the way of shows (aside from the International Show in January). I believe Pennsylvania might be your best bet (like the recently concluded PAN show).
