Non-Sports: 1982 Donkey Kong Pack Opening

Hello all - in the spirit of the advice of @blurryface to zig when others are zagging, I thought it would be fun to open 11 packs of 1982 Topps Donkey Kong cards. These are stickers with black boarders and though not particularly rare, should be a fun set to put together.

I don't think there are any major hits in these packs (please correct me if there are some gems), but the cards I was gunning for are the "Jump Man" and "Practice Man" Donkey Kong cards (only because this is the clearest Donkey Kong only sticker to me).

Starting off, I knew the gum was broken but these packs were definitely not stored in the most optimum storage. I probably should have worn gloves...

Each pack has six total cards, and the top card has damage and the gum claimed the bottom two and sometime three cards. This gives the potential of 2-3 gradable cards per pack. The game cards are always close to the gum, so these are vary condition sensitive. I noticed there were at least four variations of these cards.

Good news is I got one decent condition cards of the two I was looking for!

All in all, I got about 1/3 of the set in nice condition and had fun opening these cards I had little knowledge of. Anyone else dabbing with these cards?

Thanks for indulging me!

standard as far as the gum goes. but looks like it was fun. as for the future “hits”, i think any sticker that grades 8 or better AND anything featuring mario will be very big in the near future. as for the scratch offs, the only ones i remember subbing of those were the 1st and last stages. make sure they are centered AND just as important, a la the ud hologram on ‘89 griffeys, that the scratch off circles are non-scratched. a ton had blemishes straight outta the pack.

ironically had a nintendo sticker from the super mario 2 yellow set in a psa 5 up for s&g’s. it sold for $100+ almost instantaneously. again, a psa 5.

heres the only regular cards i subbed…

and if you get a wild hair, i think the ‘89 super nintendo stickers are possible sleepers too. has solid looking stickers from some of the biggest fan favs like mario 2, zelda, mike tysons punchout and double dragon. reoccurring interest every time a new version comes out too.

Holy smokes! Talk about zigging before anyone even thought of zagging!

The scratch off game cards seem to be tough for pack pulled cards. I have maybe one that is gradeable from these packs.

I like the 89 stickers and also I have been getting the Nintendo Power cut out cards when I can find them in nice shape.

I think they are kind of cool and may have potential to a certain audience. Nostalgia......
