PCGS 1914 D MS63BN (or better) Cent Prices

I'm looking for a PCGS 1914 D MS63BN (or better) Cent to upgrade my set. This seems to be a low population coin and a large variance in recent auction prices. I got my 09 S VDB 64RB for substantially less than is listed in the PCGS guide and wondered what would be a fair price relative to their guide? I posted this in the buy sell trade also. I have also seen realized prices no where near what the price guides have for most all coins.

When you say "better" are you referring to grade or color designation?

Either. I don't have the cash for a full red but if a 63RB or 64BN was available I would like to see what the price would be.
Guides are just that a guide not a definitive price. Above average coins sometimes sell for over guide and subpar coins often sell for under guide. I do not keep up with or use the guides much at all but rather find that the recent auction sales coupled with ebay sales (to set the high retail) give me the most accurate range to use when making my buying decisions.
FYI, back in 2002 I paid 3K for my PCGS 64RB (really should be BN).

years ago I had the nicest PCGS MS-63 BN 14-d, was out in idaho in a shop in boise, guy at the shop had one in 64RD, It was nice at first glance so he convinced me that I need to upgrade mine. He took mine in trade and i paid the 3k difference. What a mistake, the coin I bought ended up turning a more red brown after i brought it back to NC humid air after a year. Got rid of it ,A trade i wis I hadnt made, but I was dumb, inexperienced then, and 3k was a heck of a lot of money for me to waste.
