Hello, my daughter found this coin in our old house when we moved recently. We are trying to identify together and not having any luck. Can you help?

I can make out the word penny on one side. Thanks

Its either a British penny or half penny minted between 1895-1901 that's been cut down for some unknown reason. It's too uniform in shape and the letters are fully struck at the edge, so it wasn't struck on a smaller planchet.
