Should the NFL do away with kickers?

The creator of Seinfeld, Larry David, is a huge NFL fan, and he appeared on The Rich Eisen Show and was asked what he would change about the NFL if he was the commissioner.

Larry Davis Wants the NFL to Ban Kickers and Goal Posts

Larry David is a big fan of the NFL but that doesn't mean he loves the entire product. During a segment on the Rich Eisen Show Wednesday, David was given the theoretical power of NFL commissioner and was unequivocal with what he'd change.

David immediately wants to get rid of kickers and goal posts. While also putting punters on notice. And he makes some good points.

The logic here is sound. Why does one guy out of 53, with no discernable football skills, often get to decide games? There's no need for kickoffs, or punts, either! Make football fun again.

David is the genius who created Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm, I'll defer to him when it comes to making a better, more consumable product. The man knows what he's doing and I'd love him to be commissioner for a week.

I've always been fascinated by kickers, a team fights their guts out for an entire game and all of that effort comes down to a man's foot. Sometimes an entire season can depend on it.

I wrote something about this same thing in another thread last month. I was highly criticized. Life’s too short to be mad about 100lb soccer players.

The game has obviously morphed into one where kickers are specialists, unlike it was at origin. And the talk about removing kicking is often tied into player safety. I do not like the idea of taking the kicking game out of foot ball

    Of course not.

I can appreciate the college or high school coach that never punts though lol

Personally, I like a good game ending kick, for the win!

Watching guys crunching in the trenches for 60 minutes and then the game comes down to the leg of a 160 lb soccer player. Just doesn't seem right in my humble opinion.
