The 1853 groat is a rare but possibly undervalued coin - unfortunately not a popular denomination. In proof it is quite rare, but possibly even more so in uncirculated currency. This was a decent coin and generally quite prooflike due to limited die use and early strike, but not proof. I will post a better picture later on but thought I would share (0 graded by our hosts, 2 ATS):

Overall on removal from plastic I am not sure the coin is NOT a proof. And that is despite the "defect" on the obverse at rim at 7 o'clock which may be as struck.

    What are viewers opinions?

I would need to see it on hand to offer a meaningful opinion
