Perhaps you remember the name, perhaps not. He was a rising talent as a Catcher for the Cleveland Indians in the early 1970's until his career was cut-short during the 1970 All-Star game when Pete Rose slammed into him at the plate, scoring the winning run in the 12th inning. A lot of fans don't realize that Fosse was also statistically better than Thurman Munson in virtually all categories early in his career(1970-1971), but Munson had the New York spotlight. After the 1971 season, Fosse's career trajectory went steadily downhill as the affect(s) of the collision really started to manifest themselves.

A very promising player at a difficult position cut down in his MLB playing prime, he still played and remained around the game he loved for his entire life. RIP Ray Fosse.

RIP Ray. Rose was (is) an ass, not because he got caught up in the moment of an All-Star game, but because Rose said (many years after the fact) that he would do the exact same thing to score a run. Rose is an ass.

Yeah weren't there people at the time in a furious uproar over Pete doing that in "just" an exhibition game? I mean this was supposed to be a game "for fun" and Pete must've thought it was the ninth inning of Game 7 of the World Series!
