If Baseball Goes on Strike, Could this be the end of MLB in America as we know it?

Kinda scary folks, AMerica's past time stays a past time....hard to imagine....

  • It wont end. They recovered from 94' there is no reason to think they wouldn't recover again. It might take a few years but fans will come back and so will baseball.
Looking for former University of Arizona NBA RC's in PSA or BGS 9's/GEM MINT grades. Die hard University of Arizona and Bay Area Sports fan.
  • Well the 98' HR race is what got everyone back from 94'
But if they strink they wont be able to use that trick again.
  • I ALSO THINK FEWER AND FEWER FANS ARE BING IMPRESSED WITH THE HR TOTALS, AS THE CONTROVERSIAL STEROID USE MAKES THAT LESS AMAZING TO FANS...
  • You think Jose Canseco is happy now that he has destroyed baseball ? lol

Go away? Well not completely. Replaced by something better? Probably if the strike goes on long enough. Personally all sports should rethink what they are doing. They should pay players for what they do. So if they sit the bench then they should be paid to sit the bench. If the strike goes on long enough someone else will come up with the idea that they would make their own league. I would applaud this. Sure it would take a few years to get it up and going but would change the sports world for the better.

If baseball goes on strike for over 1 year then their will be more then one team fold. If I was MLB owner I would try to sell my team asap

  • After the strike in '94 the fans came back because of Cal Ripkens' Ironman streak;not because of the HR race in '98.He all but carried MLB on his back on his way to setting in 1995 the record & every team owners, managers, players, team employees all the way down to the beer man & the fans have Cal to thank for that!!

But this time around, they don't have anyone like Cal to help bring the fans back & all of the above know this. That's why they need to really be careful this time. They might all find themselves holding one big bag of "dung"with nowhere to dump it.Old Bud Selig & Donald Fuhr need to bury the hatchet & get this done right for the "GOOD" of the game! There is always hope.......there is always hope.......

  • Lets hope baseball comes back, but fans demand sanity...$10 tickets, players who give a crap, and LOWER salaries. Thats a game I could watch. It already exists, as minor league ball. Do yourself a favor, if you have a minor league team nearby, go to a game...cheap, big beers, dollar hot dogs, players that hustle and sign autographs, and a great crowd. Screw MLB.
  • dirtmonkey my man, we found somethign to agree on...baseball SUCKS!!!! image
  • I dont know about anyone else, but I would be glad to play for $100k a year and travel around the country. Only reason why they need to be paid hundred-thousand dollar salaries is because they CANNOT do this until they are 65 like a normal job. They need the money now because they wont be getting it later (at least the average player wont).
    hi
  • good point alan eads....well thought....8kobe--->Vince Mcmahan already tried, XFL is no more already. haha image
  • lol, most make over a $100k a yr., and they still get paid after they retire(at least ftball and i think basketball does).
  • baseball is boring and who wants to watch the bench players in the final innings of a allstar game? Nobody recieved the ted williams award and nobody ever will.

Nobody deserves it. Ted williams played full games in the allstar game. These players cry about playing more than a FEW INNINGS? I'm sick
  • I like baseball but I'm ashamed to watch it now and listen to the players asking for more money (like they freakin don't get enough, minimum salary is what...$400,000 a year!!!!). Bonds and Alomar are discraces to baseball. Bonds gets paid to much to just hit!!!! What the hell else does he do, he has no arm and is slow as hell. And as for Alomar spitting on an umpire a couple years back, if I was that umpire Alomars azz would have been mine. I wish more players like Ripken and Sosa played. They play for sheer joy of playing. They still know its a game and not a business. Baseball is just getting ridiculous. If you want to go watch a real game then go watch a minor league game. Cheaper on everything and more fun to watch.
