Has Belichick ever admitted this before?

I don't pay a lot of attention to Bill Belichick's press conferences, but he was asked if he would have had the success he had in New England without Tom Brady and he said "of course not" here's the video.

I was just in shock when he gave Tom Brady some credit for everything, I almost spilled my coffee when he said "of course not."

I suppose the media is asking him these questions because of the game Sunday, because he will be facing Tom himself in an old west style showdown.

Maybe he's answering that way because he's expecting to receive a Brady beatdown on Sunday and doesn't want to eat crow afterward if he answered that reporter's question by giving Brady no credit?

it is surprising to hear him speak so candidly. maybe he is speaking truthfully because he realizes that most would agree and the optics of saying otherwise would not look too good.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I’m actually glad to hear this, my annoyance with Big Bill just went down a tad.

I actually listened to this entire press conference and he was pretty forthcoming in his praise for Brady and his NE/NFL accomplishments. This was also the same morning that ESPN put out the story about Seth Wickersham’s book about behind the scenes during NE’s dynasty coming out soon. Which from the excerpts released already it’s all about the bickering behind each other’s backs in this organization with people around the league adding their two cents. He was also asked about some of these reports and by the end of the PC he was pretty snippy with the reporters lol. He practically took some woman reporter’s head off right before they ended it, it’s was vintage Belichick the grouch.

He has long said that players are more important than coaches.

Exactly. Bill has never played a down.

This question is almost as dumb as the one Vrabel was asked. What's next? Do you think you can win if you dont score more points than your opponent?
