With PCGS Secure, each coin is laser scanned, imaged and registered into the PCGS Secure database. Through this process, the system digitally captures the unique fingerprints of both sides of the coin. This process allows your coin to be identified in the future should it be lost or stolen and then resubmitted to PCGS.

Does PCGS share this digital fingerprint to NGC or any other grading company?

Unfortunately I know the dealer in person, tough situation.

If they sell them for bullion, they will get £30000 at best. The coins were too many to fit in the safe, but this did not stop them from opening it too and steal the cash too, cash that was meant for purchases.

From the Sun’s article that contains a video taken by his smartphone.

A RARE coin dealer claims raiders nicked a £500,000 collection from his hotel suite at London's Park Lane Hilton.

Nothing to do but being thankful for insurance.

The insurance (if he had one), covers the purchase price, according to receipts etc, If one goes through the list, he will find out that the vast majority of the coins were British, his niche market in Athens besides the fact that it was the Coinex show in London, the first major show in Europe to reopen its doors to the public and the dealers since the shows were canceled in early 2020. British gold coins were his specialty anyway, from bullion or new products by the Royal Mint, to some rather rare sovereigns, or multiples of them, that could have being bought for a fraction of their current value with the stratospheric climb of several of them, such as the proof sovereign of 1911, of which he had two examples, one in NGC and one in PCGS PR66CAM.

So the total official amount of insurance’s compensation that is based on purchase receipts (assuming that he had one, because Brexit made the insurance of his coins infinitely more difficult than the previous years), might be much smaller than the Sun’s title, a British tabloid of the Murdoch empire and of the school of “punch in the stomach” journalism, unlike broadsheets or even online versions of other newspapers. The real total value is a question mark, let alone that the list is not complete, especially as far as bullion coins were concerned, for instance the uncertified replicas of the Edward VIII gold £5, of which he had 40-50 examples, as they were selling for bullion or serving for trades instead of cash, each with the weight and metal content of a real £5 to give but one example….

@SYRACUSIAN I could not imagine as a dealer of expensive coins, not having insurance. That would soften the blow. Still, tragic.

Horrified Christos and his 32-year-old wife returned at 10.30pm to find their suite ransacked.

He says it left his business in ruins because he lacked insurance.
