Glitch in Registry Pop Data?

Is anyone getting weird data in the Registry Set's data about pops, and pops higher?

They are pretty trashed. By the numbers there are now hundreds of MS69 state quarters. there are 907 1998-S SMS Kennedies graded higher than MS70. Those must be nice.

    Just a glitch.

  • No kidding...

One shows that there are only 8 98-S SMS Kennedy's in MS-69!
Woo Hoo I'm one of the unlucky ones not to get mine to grade higher than MS-70...image

One day they will work it out!

Now for the EXTRA CREDIT part: who can figure out what the wrong numbers MEAN? I.e., what is the nature of the mistake? I think I have at least part of it cracked. . . .

How well do you know your sets?image

In most cases the Registry's pop is for another grade (either 1 to 2 up or 1 to 2 back)unless it is a top pop to begin.. they seem to be ok.

i.e - 1934 d washington shows 27/0 in 66 if you have a 66, then the registry shows correct. If not, say you have a 65, the pop shows the 64 pop at 346/189, when in fact it should show 162/27.

I am sure PCGS will figure it out.

Maybe they will make me #1.

You are on the right track ... I think I figured it out. The answer is in this THREAD.

RGL WINS! (At least, that's what seems to be happening in some years. Oddly, other years seem not to be affected.)

    But I STILL want a PR 71!

Thats odd. In my registry set the pop for a 98-S SMS Kennedy is 3 in MS69 with 922 higher. Maybe their fixing the problem one coin at a time. image

Man I see what You Mean. Its Also Real Screwey in the Mercury Dime Registry. The Pops on some Coins have went to almost Nothing and Others Have Sky Rocketed. Very Weird !!! According to the Pops Shown Now the Set is Worth Much Much more Money !!! At First I thought PCGS had Adjusted for Coins that had been Resubmitted and Never Dropped from the Pop Reports. Not So after finding Huge Increases on other Dates.
