Well I know a few of you wouldn't pedigree your sets. But if you saw how happy my wife was to see our name on our proof Jeffersons you would understand why I did. We set our goal and worked towards it for many years. To her this is one of the rewards for assembling the set. The other was to see our name in the final printed Registry list. I guess she will be happy if we get a certificate or something from this latest set of awards.
When I sell the set I will certainly offer to have the coins re-labeled without the name if the buyer would rather have it that way. Of course they could just send it in for pedigree with their own name if they choose. The $5/coin and shipping costs would be a very small percent of the total price of the set so it would be no skin off my back.

LW, I'm not selling now, but when I sell I could have the coins re-labeled. I've just read a few opinions that we are at the start of a bull market in coins. So I'll be keeping them for a while

Admittedly, I was one that said I would not pedigree my set. But, that doesn't mean that's the way everyone feels. And I think your offer to pay for reholdering is very generous. That might make the difference to someone buying your coin.
And you know what... After seeing your name on that holder it kinda makes me think I wouldn't mind seeing my name on my set too. Who knows!!
But who would want to see DAM on a slab? Me!

Enjoy your coins.......
Does kinda have a ring to it, doesn't it.
If I knew how, I'd add a link to my DAM Two Cent Set.
Congratulations!!!

Nice set! congratulations!
By the way, what, exactly, is the requirement to pedigree a set? I believe it has to be in the current top five and you have to pay $5 a coin to reholder; but does it also have to be a set that is no longer in production (ie can you pedigree a Jefferson 1964-current set)? And how long does it have to have been out of production (ie can you pedigree an SBA set which goes through 99 or a Washington quarter set through 98)?

I wanted to do it to my set when I passed mr mints set but sold out
Congratulations on assembling a fine set of Jeffersons. It takes a lot of time and effort to complete a set of that caliber.
Will you continue to upgrade the set, or is there another that you're going to concentrate on next?

Thought I'd also jump in a give our friend a hand - here is the link to the DAM Best Two Cent Set.

I like the cameo look so much I doubt I'd try for a brilliant Jeff set, though I am tempted by rainbow colored Jeffs. I also started looking at the Cherrypickers guide and have actually bought one double die. I will always look for a way to cheaply upgrade my set --- so don't expect to see many/any updates LOL The way I look at it I have one collection of proof Jeffersons. I will be sending in the second half ('65-now) for pedigree soon. Since I consider the '94 and '97 SMS coins to be matte proofs I will try to sneak them in as well I imagine I'll be keeping this set for a few more years at least.
I have already switched my focus to type coins. I'm going for cameo proof type coins where possible. I tried to finish the Nickels first but am missing the 1866 with Rays. I saw a cameo 64 in my price range but it had a large milky spot so I passed. I also want a colorful matte Lincoln, say 64 RD or 65 RB next though I would buy a cameo Morgan from the 1900s if I found one in my price range.
Congratulations on the pedigree Carl! The insert looks GOOD with the family name on it!
It is nice that your wife shares your interest in collecting. A few years back after purchasing a tough pop-1 Jefferson. My wife’s comments were: “Yeah, it looks nice but you must be crazy to pay $3,000.00 for a Jefferson nickel.” A few months later I popped some 1943 P & S Lincoln’s in MS68. When my wife saw that they were selling for $3,000.00 each, she thought that was pretty cool. But if you were to ask her, (I don’t) I’m sure she would say; It’s even dumber to pay $3,000.00 for a penny!
I have always admired your 38-64 proof Jefferson set but I am envious of your wife’s interest in the hobby.
Wishing you & your wife continued success,

But no, you should stay far away from rainbow proof Jeffs
