1994 p Bug Eyed Frank

At first I thought maybe the dime has been shot but didn't go all the way thru the coin. After a closer look you can see details in the "growth" on both sides of the coin. It also thicker the rim of the dime on both sides. Thoughts?

That is a bubble caused buy high heat like a blow torch.
Makes since. Thank you for the answer. That would explain the discoloration as well.
