Some recent Mercs from board members / test pics.

Just gettin' my picture postin' up to speed, and thought I'd share these two. Both are MS67FB.

The '41 is from Jon Rosenthal(Tonelover) at Rare Coins of New Hampshire, and the '43 is from Aaron. Both coins are super clean and lustrous. The colors are pretty close, but I'm not capturing the luster! image When I can get 'em right, I'll start puttin' pics. in my sets! image
Ken,
How do I lable these darn attachments? All I got are these numbers! image

Regards,

Don

edited to add that they posted in reverse; 109 &110 are the '43, and 116 & 118 are the '41! image

  • Not bad at the first try. Nice coins too. You should be able to label them what ever you want. In the file folder, you should be able to rt click on the label and a rename it option should be there to label it what you like. I label my mercs like ( e.g. 43sFB ) and my buffalos the code number on the pcgs tag, that way I am not running into duplicates. It is really a preference call. I will try to explain further if need be.

  • Some nice looking coins, Don.

To label the picture files, I think you can right click on the file name in internet explorer and choose rename then type the anme you want, but keep the same extension for the file type. image

            Don,

Good first pics. I download all my pics to the same directory, do all of the cropping, cutting, and pasting, and then rename and save them in another directory. The format I use for saving a 1916-P dime graded by PCGS as MS65FB is 1916P10cPCGS65FB. If I have multiples of the same date and grade, I put a "2", "3", or whatever at the end of the file name. I keep all of my coin pics in a separate directory, with subdirectories for each denomination. That makes it easier to locate a particular coin if you have hundreds of pictures. Also, remember that you can't have any special characters (- # /, etc) in the file name when you upload it into the registry.

Different cameras will produce different results under the same conditions. Try experimenting with the light source and angle of the coin to the camera. I prefer to photograph silver coins in a room that has lots of sunlight, but not directly on the coin.

Good luck. I'm looking forward to seeing more of your pics.

            Ken,

That's a great-looking '38-S. Where do you find coins like that for $25-30?? I'm jealous; I just added a '38-S to my set, and it cost me a lot more than 30 bucks.

Plucked that off Ebay in My Early Morning Search that I do. Some Cool Cheap Coins show Up overnight every once in a while. The BIN was $25.00 and the Resistent Factor for Me was Zero. Came Out of the Mercury Dime Capital of the USA, Texas , Royality Coins. Its also is in the First Generation PCGS Slab. Really is a Nice Looking Coin.

I used a Nikon CoolPix775. It has a lot of different lighting settings, and I'm still experimenting. I have to work on bringing out the luster! image
