Did anyone read the article about where he said the players go on strike that the FANS would come back??? He acted like a smarta$$ and said..."Well, they're not the one's who play the game of baseball...they'd come back"...LOL! YEAH RIGHT! First of all, it's the FANS who give you your paycheck, and second of all...it'd RUIN baseball if the players go on strike again. I've already heard MANY people, including myself, say that if baseball goes on strike, I won't ever watch it again, and I won't. They want to go on strike...how about the fans go on strike against them? Barry Bonds is a total a$$hole...I have lost all respect for the guy. There were some more lame comments he made as well, but I can't recall what he said, but it was definitely LAME against the fans...

So what's really on your mind, tonight? LOL

kinger - you must be one of the idiots who actually WOULD come back??? There's no way in HELL I'd come back and watch these millionaires play baseball if they went on strike again. Yeah, SOME would come back, but when you have about 9,000 fans and that's the total attendance for the entire game...then they'll realize that was a huge mistake. Barry Bonds is the lead squire...and a major idiot.
<< <i>Hey Derrick,

Could be those hemrhoids flaring up again.

I'd come back too. The BOB is a great place to spend an afternoon.
I get my tickets free, and don't buy MLB merchandise. Parking and beer/food are the only things that I'd blow money on so I'd be back for sure.
It might take a year or two though.
<< <i>so you're saying that if the mlb strikes, that you will never watch another braves game again? or anything that has to do with baseball like baseball tonight, sportscenter during baseball season or games? Don't kid yourself.
kinger >>
Nope, I wouldn't and you can put that in your cigar and smoke it. Why should anyone want to watch these players play after they went on ANOTHER freaking STRIKE? Give me a break! I'm telling you...you will be surprised of the people who will quit watching baseball if they go on strike again. Why in the hell do they need to go on a STRIKE anyway?!?!? How lame is that? These guys shouldn't have to strike about anything...or ever COMPLAIN about anything! Another strike will ruin the game of baseball...and it's sad.
Come and join the basketball fans
Glenn Robinson Auto Collection 7/21
and baseball still sucks anyways.
anyways, the way i look at it is a strike would hurt baseball, but not in the dramatic fashion everyone is stating... baseball is hurting now, strike or no strike... Selig is the worse thing to ever happen to baseball and yes, the strike wouldn't help either... but Derrick, c'mon man, i know u would watch the Braves again... maybe not a year after the strike, maybe not 2 years after the strike, but u have a lot of years left to live, and i would bet $$$ at some point in your life, u would watch another game, whether it be on TV or at the ballpark or even highlights on sportscenter... you're not gonna change the channel everytime u see a baseball highlight - that's just plain stupid... people said the same thing after the last strike, and it did take a few years (and yes it did hurt baseball in the long run), but people STILL WATCH THE GAME... maybe not as much or maybe with less interest, but it's still a sport and people still will watch it... and yes Derrick, u can say whatever u want now, but when the time comes, and baseball returns (that is, if they DO have a strike), eventually u will be watching it along with everyone else that says now they won't...
like i said in the beginning, i could give a fu^k about baseball... Washington doesn't even have a team and to be honest, baseball is very boring to watch on TV... so, GIVE ME FOOTBALL ANYDAY OF THE WEEK OVER BASEBALL...
to sum all this up, i am not disagreeing that another strike would completely ruin the game of baseball... because for one, baseball is hanging on a thread now anyways... it went from america's pasttime to just a plain ole' boring sport... u can't really blame one thing or another but u sure can point out a lot of contributions to that decline... ($$$, ownership, commissioners, steroids, strikes, LACK OF HEART, etc etc etc...)... i guess my whole point is simple: baseball is doing horrible and with a strike it would hurt it more... however, the sport will return, and everyone will continue to watch it... the numbers won't be good, but it will be watched... and yes Derrick, even by u...
Getting of the subject sorta those yellow jerseys they had em wearing were hideous. I wonder who picked them out, lol. Chris, GO AL!!!
Barry is not one to bite his tongue. He speaks what he wants with no regard for others and he is right on the money with the statement you're mad about Derick, the fans will come back (eventually).
We all know it.
<< Bonds is an a$$hole? Really? I figured tht out the first time I saw him play! The guy chokes a teammate because he isn't playing well! And, he still says he would do anything to go to the playoffs! Ahahahahahaha...and it hlps by choking a teammate??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... >>
It certainly didn't hurt any that Bonds had a tiff with Kent. Kent has been on tear ever since. He's playing like a man possessed. Say what you want but that event will have no effect on the team winning or not winning. Kent is a man and the rest of the team are men. A petty event like this will have no bearing on the team what so ever.
I mean, think about it. Why the hell would you want to go and support these greedy a$$ players when they are greedy and wanting to go on strike? That's pathetic. I wouldn't give them a barrell to p!ss in much less me buying a ticket to a game to see them play. To hell with that! The bottom line: If these greedy a$$ players go on strike...it will ruin the game of baseball...it will knock down their finances including the organizations finances...many of the fans will come back, but more will be done with baseball...and I'm one of the one's who'll quit watching it. Plain and simple. How hard is that for someone to understand?
Personally i would not go to another game even if the tickets are free and Pac Bell is a great place to see a game and easy to get to.
Maybe in 5 years i might change my mind and MAYBE I WOULD NOT.
They will find a way to ruin it-of that i guarantee you

<< <i>ThiTo, your making it out like I'm a 12 year old kid or something with the comment about me having a lot of life to live. Well, yes, I do have a lot of life to since I am 20 years old...but I'm the kind of guy who doesn't go back on my word and I wouldn't watch it again. I'm telling you...it's pathetic how these players can sit there and whine and complain about sh*t when they are freaking MILLIONAIRES! WTF? I'd like for them to come live the way I live for about a month and see if they have anything to complain about. I never said that there wouldn't be fans coming back...I said it would be a lot LESS of the fans coming back. They are greedy b@stards...what else can you say? And, the funny thing is...most of you haven't denied what I have said because you know it's all true. Yeah, when the 9,000 atendance at a baseball game is the high for the night...then you'll know something is wrong.

i agree with pretty much everything u said except for the part about YOU watching baseball... picture this...
10 years from now... Braves/Yankees... World Series... Game 7... Chipper's last game ever (already announced his retirement after the season is over)... bottom 9... bases loaded... 2 outs... Chipper up to bat...
the fact is, you're GOING TO watch... a man at his death bed would WANT to watch... a baby stuck in his mother's stomach would WANT to watch... it's exciting... that's all there is to it...
and when i said the part about u have a lot of life to live, i didn't mean it the way that u took it... i meant it by sayin u have a long life to live WITHOUT baseball... as from what i have seen, u are one of the biggest baseball fans on this board... and once again, i would bet $$$ that if there is a strike and baseball comes back one day, u would watch... maybe not RIGHT away, but eventually u would swallow your pride and watch...
Of course baseball's problems have stuck out like a sore thumb (Tom Glavine: "It's not about the money..." ok then what is it? If it's contraction, get used to the reality of CORPORATE DOWNSIZING before the ENTIRE corporation gets hurt more than it has already). Mediocre players getting close to $10 million a year simply has to stop. There needs to be a income structure based on performance (heck even career milestones should be rewarded so maybe more players will actually try to reach them), with the TOP players earning that $10 million. Profit-sharing would help make baseball a game of something other than which owners have the most to spend, which would certainly help the game. And lowering ticket/food/drink/parking prices so real people can actually enjoy the game on a regular basis would also be a good idea, don't you think Of course, it'd probably take a strike that would take everything to the point of near total collapse to get anything close to this, so...

He wasn't selective with his pitches. Tried to hurry up & get his 10 outs so he could sit down.
Plus didn't give an interview afterwards. The guy is a loser in my book & doesnt deserve the single season HR title.

Bonds doesn't have to give interviews nor does he have to try in an exhibition Home Run Derby. I'm sure he has much more important things to worry about then what the fans or the press think of him. He has no obligation to you or any of the press. Nor does he have an obligation to put a lot of effort into something as cheesy as the Home Run Derby.
The only losers are the ones whining about Bonds manerisms. The Man is that, a Man. He can do and say what he wants. And in no way is he a loser because of his actions or his words. He's the most productive offensive player of the decade in the 90's. Look it up. His attitute may suck but in no way is he a loser. I think you should have picked a word other then loser.
Why enter and waste the fans time if your not going to try?
As for the word loser, well if the shoe fits.

<< <i>sorry guys but I support the players, first not all get paid millions of dollars and the strike is not just for the big contracts. Before anyone has a leg to stand on you have to know the facts. The big name players get the big bucks because they bring in the fans, the lesser paid players still have to look down the barrel of a 96mph fast ball with the hopes they dont get beaned and become a veg. for the rest of their life. To understand the game and all of its ins and outs is what makes the game fun to watch. Ex. bottom of the 7th man on 2nd score tied 1-1, pitcher has thrown 92 pitches and he is faceing the middle of the lineup. He struck out the same guy last time with a slider on a 2/2 count, the batter has trouble with curve balls. What do you throw? Think about what these guys have to go through to know what pitch to throw. Thats why they get paid the money they do because they can do this in front of 50,000 people. On the other side the batter has to react to whatever is thrown and make contact. I say give them what they want, I love the game!

lol... tough job...
Anyhow, I am consoled by the knowledge that no one will ever match the real home-run record: 755 for a career. Let Barry hit 70, or 75, or fu(king 80 for all I care. Let these overpaid swines lift all the weights and take all the roids they want. They'll never touch the Hammer....or even the Babe, for that matter. Eighty dingers a year won't cut it when your career is only the equivalent of six-and-a-half full seasons long. Hell, that won't even get you past Reggie Jackson. Barry, McGuire, and the boys could have taken a few lessons from the great Henry Louis Aaron; but it's too late for most of them now even for Griffey, Jr., who spent most of this year on the DL again and seems to be developing a Bondsian attitude of his own. Hank was consistent, persistent, low-key, and fiercely loyal to the game that provided him a vehicle with which to ride right out of the Jim-Crow South into history. The Babe was not so low-key or persistent; but somehow he managed to maintain a degree of consistency, and was just a loyal as Hank to the game that pulled him out of the boys' home and provided him with the means to indulge his many appetites. Both Hank and the Babe had staying power, and no steroid known to man can guarantee that. So to all you budding sluggers out there: put away the barbells and go get yourself some hot dogs with extra chili...and shut your holes!
Couldn't agree with more about Bonds Derrick.
His does owe his fans and baseball more but at the same time he's paid to entertain us on the field. And he does his job and more on the field.
It's kind of early to talk about this, but Arod is on pace to brake Aaron's home run record. Arod is not a roid boy either. He's just got an enormous amount of talent. He could do it if he kept up his current pace for the next 8-10 years and he's only 26 now. {{shrugs}}
