Finally, Tommy's back tonight!!

craig44craig44 Posts: 11,244 ✭✭✭✭✭

After 7 long months, Mr. Brady is back in business. It had been so long i was starting to get the shakes. one can only watch the Super Bowl dismantling of the Chiefs so many times before you remember every single play.

So, what do you think, Will Brady throw 50 TDs this season? If he stays healthy, I think there is a chance with the 17 game season.

we shall see. It all starts tonight.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I don't know what Brady will do this year, other than win (as long as he is healthy). As we know, he likes to ramp up for the playoffs. I am happy to get to watch him again, though it still hurts that he is not in a Patriots uniform. I will root against him week 4, other than that I will be cheering him on.

I dont care at all about the Bucs, but I do root for Brady HARD.

as for week 4. I hope Tommy has 5 TD, 400 yards and Mac Jones pulls the game out in the end with a 4th quarter drive.

    Ring #8 maybe…

If NE is not in the running, I will be hoping for #8 as well.

what are your thoughts on week 4 Perk?

I also do not care about the Buks but am 100% in back of Brady winning. I will be tapeing the game to watch after the Red Sox game.

Brady wins and will be forcing the ball downfield late in the 4th quarter even if the Bucs are up by 3 TD’s. Tommy wants to stick it to Hoodie and he will 100% in my opinion

The line moved a point in the last 2 days from -7.5 to -8.5. The wise guys are all over the Bucs and have zero faith in the Cowboys. This may be the easiest play all season long. I usually worry about a back door cover when it’s over 7, but not tonight. I’m seeing 34-17. 38-24. Over at 51.5 may be tricky. I don’t think the Cowboys have fixed their defense and Tampa is itching to prove last year was just the beginning.

I think the Brady and the Bucs have a really strong chance for a repeat, they're going to be tough to deal with, especially as the season progresses and they start to gel again.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,244 ✭✭✭✭✭

I agree that the Bucs should win this one handily. Brady was throwing lasers all over the field in the last preseason game. the team has had a year to get familiar with each other and Brady with the playbook. very little turnover. I expect them to hit the ground running. barring injury, TB has to be the favorite for SB

I just hope that its a competitive game that comes down to the final drive with Brady's offense against Belichick's defense and TB needing a TD to win.

BB may know Brady but Brady knows Bills defenses like the back of his hand. He can’t fool him. Line should be a touchdown at least.

Oh my goodness, this is the hype video Tom Brady posted, and notice the ring at the end.

I didnt think i could get any more hyped for the season to start, but I was wrong.

    Anxious to watch the game!

Too bad Edelman has such a bad knee, by now he could have signed with the Bucs and the trifecta (southern version) would be all set to go.

That offense is going to be fun to watch once they get rolling.

  • craig44craig44 Posts: 11,244 ✭✭✭✭✭

they really are. they put up 32 with quite a few mistakes. there was a fumble by Godwin near the goal line, a fumble by RoJo, an interception caused by Fournette tipping a ball that hit him in the hands. and a couple of other dropped balls that could have extended drives. they certainly could have put up 40 for sure last night.

Saw this mentioned elsewhere. Brady literally told the defense where he was going and Gronk still got in the end zone pretty easily. (Audible call at 11:23)

an interception caused by Fournette tipping a ball that hit him in the hands

I suppose that ball should have been caught, but it wasn't a good pass, actually a little behind Fournette and high, right in his face. even if he'd have caught it the player who ended up with the ball would have blown up the play.

being realistic, Brady had a good night overall but there was a short period, 2-3 drives, where his passing was erratic. he underthrew a couple balls badly on throws he typically makes. the ill-advised throw of the game was that one at the end of the half. it was vintage Brady, into a crowded endzone with the hope for a PI call. with one more slipped tackle that would have been a 108 yard interception.

I would disagree on the Fournette Tip. He should have caught the ball. very catchable. yes, the screen would have been blown up immediately, but it should not have been a turnover. he didnt have to stretch or reach for the ball. had his hands not been there, it would have hit him in the helmet.

I didnt mind the hail mary at the end of the half. few seconds left, may get a PI or a lucky TD. I will risk a 108 yard int return every time. thats just me though. its a risk reward thing.

you are correct, there were a few drives where his accuracy was poor. and the games first drive was poor as well.

Yup, just slightly more than Bronsexuals do. ;)

Edit: FYI, my LOL was for your “it was vintage Brady, into a crowded end zone with the hope for a PI call. With one more slipped tackle that would have been a 108 yard interception.” Trying to make this play seem like it had some bigger magnitude just seemed laughable. Brady did what 99/100 other QBs do in that situation and the play meant nothing to the final score.

This is a sophisticated sports panel ( for the most part) and I want to add some insight to last nights game in case you missed it or didn’t think about. Or am I just a sports junkie because I thought of it immediately and I’m sure no ones mentioned it.
The Bucs were set on kicking the game winning field. Scenario
1st and 10, 10 seconds left. No time outs.
Brady throws three passes into the bench.
    Right move? Ariens call?
Wrong move on each of the 3 plays and I’ll tell you why. First game of the season. Game winner coming up. Guys are a bit twitchy. Oops.
False start is 10 second run off. Game over.

Now im sure Tom told everyone don’t fling move. But still, stranger things have happened.

    Right or wrong and why?

That comment was for me because I laughed at his. The guy was 32/50 last night, not counting the intentional throwaways he clearly misfired on quite a few passes. He also threw 4tds and put the team in position to kick the game winning FG but let’s nitpick the Hail Mary attempt lol.

erik, don't flatter yourself, I know you have an inflated ego but the comment was directed at "fan-boys" and mainly Craig for his prior comment.

let's be fair and objective and try to put bias aside when assessing stuff here. I'll freely admit that I have a bias towards Brady in the negative direction, a feeling shared by more fans than you're aware of. just sick of everyone worshipping the guy. at least be willing to admit that you feel the same in a positive direction.

I'll mention his high points, but it doesn't do much good to say when he makes a mistake it's someone else's fault. two plays from that game were brilliant. on that long TD to Antonio Brown, Brady had to wait a moment for the play to develop, stepped up in the pocket and threw a pass that couldn't have been better. the other was the TD to Gronk, those two seem to communicate amazingly at the line. Brady read things, adjusted and threw another perfect pass.

to the Fournette Interception, the pass probably shouldn't have been thrown, either check off to someone else or put the pass into the ground. as it was, the ball was at Fournette's head and slightly behind him. he turned and it bounced off his hands.
