Ran across this thread while searching an eBay listing. This one's in a slab and just looks bad to me. Any thoughts on this being a counterfeit slab?
I usually try to authenticate by matching up with a VAM but every one of his photos of slabbed coins is just slightly out of focus. The portrait just looks a little weird to me.

Might as well get another one.
This seller has been reported several times and is back at it.

A round of applause for those who report but even if EBay gives them the boot they will come back with a new name and same old game. Sad.
The seller needs to be removed permanently but, as AlexinPA says they'll be back. And yes-it is sad.

Looks okay to me and checks out with the PCGS info https://www.pcgs.com/cert/34118198
Perhaps more experienced folks can pitch in if I am wrong.
Cheers.

The seller has listed many counterfeits in the past.
The holder looks legit but the coin suspicious.
Unfortunately the photos aren’t good enough to make a definite call, except that I definitely wouldn’t buy that with those pictures
@jbo "Any thoughts on this being a counterfeit slab?"
Slab appears to be genuine and I would guess the photos are making the coin look bad.
The date on the 03-S is all wrong.
Take a look at some examples from the GC Archive.
