Asante Samuel criticizes Bill Belichick
Former Patriot Asante Samuel says Bill Belichick is just another coach without Tom Brady.
Former Patriots Star Makes Shocking Comments About Bill Belichick
Cold blooded is a understatement! But without Brady he is just another coach in my opinion
— Asante Samuel (@pick_six22) August 31, 2021
Asante Samuel on ESPN's 'First Take' after tweeting that Bill Belichick would be 'just another coach' without Tom Brady': "He [Bill Belichick] hasn't shown that he is a great coach -- to me -- because he had the greatest player of all time... Tom Brady has already shown that he can win wherever he goes. Through adversity, through a pandemic, getting kicked off fields, barely having any practice, I didn't expect him to win the Super Bowl and he won the Super Bowl. Anyone can coach Tom and win a Super Bowl. Now, [Belichick] will have to show -- in my eyes -- in order to be great in my opinion, you have to show you can do that without that person... We're talking about the word 'great' here. I think people use the word great and throw it around like it's just another word. To be great, you have to do some special things. You can't just do it with one situation at one team... I think he would have won one Super Bowl without Tom Brady being there that long, and that's my honest opinion."
Ex-New England Patriots player Asante Samuel made headlines this week for a shocking tweet he made in reference to his former head coach in New England, Bill Belichick, saying that Belichick would be ‘just another coach’ without Tom Brady as his quarterback.
Samuel then would go on ESPN’s ‘First Take’ program to double-down on the viral tweet, adding that Belichick, like Brady already has in Tampa, needs to prove that he can win a Super Bowl by himself before he enters the discussion as a ‘great’ coach. Samual said that he believes Belichick would have only won ‘one’ Super Bowl in New England if Brady never became the greatest quarterback of all time.
Belichick and Brady won six Super Bowls together, with Samuel being on two of those championship teams (2004 vs. Carolina, 2005 vs. Philadelphia).
Samuel made four Pro Bowls, including two First-team All-Pros (2007, 2010), and a Second-team All-Pro in 2009.

Yea he is saying pretty much everything I been saying all along. It’s about time someone has gone viral with comments
Not to add anything negative but ok I will. BB has missed the playoffs 7 of 8 seasons w/o Brady. Just saying
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Bronco, perkdog and I have been saying Brady deserved much more credit than Belichick did for years and many of the football fans here tried arguing that wasn't the case.
DD, post a few more threads like this bashing Belichick and I guarantee that will get stevek back.
edit: here's one that was an oldie but goodie

Since stevek has left, I have started threads about- sports betting, eating Oreos, athletes using marijuana, and now criticizing Bill Belichick. When stevek gets back he's going to beat the crap out of me!
But did you ever photoshop a pic of his cat Fluffy drinking milk from a tipped over milk carton that had MISSING: stevek next to the Philadelphia Phillies logo?

Steve has not even ghosted since July 12th.
Unfortunately I don’t see him making his way back this year. Maybe dimeman and Steve are palling around in Dallas
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
Heck,if we're trying to bring back some of our missing homies here I think that there is about a 5% chance that rehashing this old thread may lead to a certain Barry Larkin fan popping in.

That's not a bad idea. 🤔
I have been on the side that gives much more credit to Brady than Belichick. But I have also talked about how some of what Brady was able to make himself into was greatly aided by having the rock of a coach that Belichick is. I've called it a perfect storm.
While I understand what Samuel was trying to say, I think he should have tried to be more careful with how he said it. Or maybe extrapolated it out more. If Brady had retired a Patriot two years ago, would Samuel have come out and said that neither of them were great?
Edited for spelling
Side note. Asante was one of the best players to come out of my high school, Boyd Anderson High School in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, a few years after me, go Cobras!
I have long given Brady the lions share of the credit. players on the field always trump coaches on the sideline
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I've always believed Brady to be the driving force behind the Patriots dynasty. I mean, just look at last season, Brady shows up in Tampa Bay, and boom, Super Bowl, and Belichick struggled with Newton, that's no coincidence. I think Brady is like Michael Jordan in that he demands the best out of everyone around him.
