What is this Possibly 1600s Medieval Silver Coin?

Anyone have any information on this coin? It looks like something from the 1600s.

Fairly standard "pirate jewellery" item, featuring a "piece of eight" - one-quarter of a piece of eight, to be more precise.

I'd assume it was genuine - or at least, 1747 isn't a commonly replicated fake. Whether the attached loop is contemporary (an actual pirate piece of adornment) or modern is difficult to say. Modern would be my guess, as pirates tended not to actually make buttons and badges out of perfectly good money. You'd want an XRF chemical analysis done on the ring and/or the soldering, to see if "modern" elements like zirconium or titanium turn up.

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.
