quite possibly the craziest sports story i have ever encountered
living in a state where high school football is king, i am still in disbelief after reading this. it's no secret that espn is a shell of its former self, but it's far worse than i ever imagined -- there is no doubt in my mind that there are some supreme dopes working for that company. they tried to pass the buck to the marketing group they use, but eotd this game took place on their main channel and apparently no one lifted a finger to conduct an elementary background check. i could have gone to maxpreps and sniffed this one out in half a minute.
the top link details how espn was duped. read it first. the bottom link is an interview with a kid who went to this "school" and played for this "team."

Yes, ESPN was too lazy to do a simple background check to verify if Bishop Sycamore was legit, now ESPN is completely embarrassed and they should be. Here was one of their advertisements for a Bishop Sycamore game.
Here is ESPN trying to put this on Paragon.
ESPN should be absolutely embarrassed, they have truly become a laughing stock, everyone is already making jokes about this.
not “high school”. we meant “hi skool”.
I was reading an article about this scandal, and this is the location Bishop Sycamore listed as being their address, it's a freaking apartment duplex.
I love it, ESPN is too concerned with social
Issues, sports is secondary
I've said this multiple times, why does anyone even watch ESPN??
If you're a jokester, this scandal is just dripping with a seemingly endless supply of sweet juices, a tasty treat indeed.
The more I think about this scandal, the more angry I become, ESPN is a shell of it's former self.
unbelievable to think that all that's required to be a part of a nationally-televised game on espn is to lie about the number of D-1 prospects on your roster. that's exactly what this Bishop Sycamore did. there was zero vetting. then you get to the interview with the kid. not only is it a fraudulent school, but there was all kinds of criminal activity taking place.
it's officially amateur hour in Bristol

I still can't believe that ESPN is that lazy, they can't run a simple background check!
Shouldn't IMG Academy have vetted the opponent as well?
Robb
And you could tell from the start that Bishop Sycamore is fake and fraudulent, I mean just look at this photo I found of Bishop Sycamore's front office.
Oh, look at this, they're already selling Bishop Sycamore T-shirts.
All I gotta say is.................
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
So a few things on this:
1) IMG knew who they were playing since they'd played the same school last year.
2) The head coach has been fired/resigned. He's also facing a $100k lawsuit for fraud that he's confessed to. I believe he has an arrest warrant, too.
3) ESPN WAS aware of the problems with Bishop Sycamore. They "tried to alert" Paragon weeks ago but got nowhere AND STILL LET THE GAME GO ON. Them putting the blame on anybody else is a lie and disingenuous.
espn knew about this, and the fact they didn't pull the plug on its telecast is the reason why the network is a disgrace
like this article states, it's time to put an adult in charge because what just happened never, ever should have........especially in the year 2021 when you can vet the crap out of any individual, team or company in the blink of an eye
as i stated up above, i'm in tune with high school football here in Texas. i visit maxpreps often. a quick search of Bishop Sycamore and i see (or in this case, don't see) things i have never seen before -- literally. there is hardly any info. warning sirens would have been reverberating in my head until i had a migraine

so. whens the rematch?

Yes, it is official, Bishop Sycamore has fired head coach Roy Johnson.
What is this ESPN you speak of? I’ve checked all the sports channels and the name only comes up when searching for political and social justice sites. Are they new to the sports thing?
"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
the BS coaches (fitting acronym, no?) are coming out now and saying sure, we'll agree to an interview.........right after you pay us
this keeps getting better and better by the hour

Oh here we go, I was able to find the actual recruiting interviews that ESPN conducted on video:
and to the surprise of exactly no one (well, except for maybe espn and paragon), two checks totaling almost 3.6k to pay for last weekend's hotel rooms in Canton were no good

This is one of the prospects from Bishop Sycamore, the kid looks pretty fast.
The verification papers that Bishop Sycamore presented to ESPN have leaked out to the media:
