PCGS Registry issues

JWPJWP Posts: 22,805 ✭✭✭✭✭

I have a problem when I try to scan a bar code into my collection and then have to enter the certification #. Also, not all of my entries have a value amount when I enter them into the registry. Is anyone else having this issue or is there a setting I do not have enabled. The value of collection never really seems to adjust for each entry. Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks. I really like the registry, even with these issues.

When editing a coin certificate info with your date purchased and cost, leave the "current value" blank and for most coins it will automatically fill in the updated value after you save. Note that for quite a few newer modern coins there are no values in the price guide that will pull into the registry.

Sometimes it takes a while for PCGS to have enough information to determine a value. Sometimes the value is based on a formula related to the ups and downs of the gold or silver price. Sometimes for certain limited number special labels, there is not an accurate price, or no price at all.

You do have the option to enter your own "current price", but it will stay there, until you change it, as the auto program will not overwrite it.

Bar code readers need to have a special setting for the various bar codes to read correctly. There is usually a book that comes with them to set the correct format, so the coins enter the certificates when scanned. Try setting it for "Interleave 2 of 5" format.

    Good luck.

I dont know if it is an issue but...

All on the same day, I found this coin:

    Researched the retail value:

Negotiated the purchase price and bought the coin, entered it in my registry to find this value:

I double checked both locatioms and tboight the $500 was what the value dropped to... negotiated to $415 and saw that ot was still $400 in the Registry...

Why didnt scannjng the coin show $400 instead of$500?

I mainly collect raw Ancients, PCGS Mercury Dimes, and raw CSA'S... but have misc other sets...Jeffhttps://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/mysetregistry/set/215647https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/mysetregistry/showcase/8378

Did you select the coin in your set and edit the coin in your inventory and make sure there is no value for it just below your cost? If you leave that blank when you save and exit, it might update to the price.

If not, there was discussion on the coin forum of some inventory issue they are working on. Good luck.
