To each his own but these coins have zero attraction for me. There are millions of Morgan Dollars struck in the years when they were made for circulation. I really don't get why someone would pay much more than melt for these novelty coins.

To your point, these are actually more scarce than original Morgans. Lol

Scarcity only doesn't interest me. The "real" Morgan's are more of an attraction for me given the historical connection and that they were released for circulation, coins for everyday use.

Most UNC Morgans were never released for circulation.

Never released for circulation is not the same as never intended for circulation.

    Keep moving the goal line.

Many, maybe most of them, were also never intended for circulation. Political graft for the silver lobby.

Well grandpa is headed to bed and I leave you with this. There was a commemorative release with a (crappy) Morgan design. Left many unhappy. Mid 2000’s. The current renderings doesn’t give any feel for how they will be in hand. What if on top of the hype they turn out to be rather stunning in hand? I would imagine that would only add to the craziness and increase demand. I hope so. Good night 💤

🎶 shout shout, let it all out 🎶

Not moving the line but adding on reasons why your attempt to make these commerative coins equivalent to Morgan Dollars minted and intended to be used as currency is ludicrous. When I'm given one of the 2021's in change at 7/11 I'll buy your argument. There was ZERO intent that these newly minted coins were anything but sold as collectibles. You know that, I know that and anyone other than the clueless knows that. Are you trying to sell the idea that a Morgan Dollar collection is incomplete without one of these coins? Of course based on your answer my next question is how much are you selling them for?

  • The 2021 Morgan Dollars and 2021 Peace Dollar are NOT commemoratives. The production information and the COA received with them indicated they are produced per spec by the US Mint and are legal tender, so these are absolutely "real" US Dollars, tho I doubt anyone in their right mind would spend one -- Same with an OG Morgan - still "spendable" but I doubt any one would - nor would anyone receiving it know what to do with it.

The question now is how to categorize them - New/old or continuation...> @pmh1nic said:

Well technically they say $1 and are legal tender ,I think ,so they aren’t not real coins🤓🙀

Technically yes but technically they weren’t minted for circulation at the value stated and the bill authorizing them references them as numismatic items.

And technically you can spend them. Take a modern comm. no stated value can’t be spent. Look, I hear you but?🤓🙀

The legislation authorizing these coins gives the purpose for the authotization...

"These iconic silver dollars with vastly different representations of Lady Liberty and the American Eagle, reflect a changing of the guard in 1921 in the United States and therefore on the 100th anniversary must begin to be minted again to COMMEMORATE this significant evolution of American freedom."

These coins are commeratives according to the legislation.

BTW, is the 2021 mint set going to include a 2021 Morgan and Peace Dollar?
