Starting out advice
I just started going through my collection of 1980’s and early 90’s cards (mostly football but some basketball, baseball, golf, and wrestling- which was a surprise to me). I haven’t gone through them in 20 years but most are in nice shape. From reading the forums I can tell now is not the time to start trying to get things graded. I’m in no hurry but eventually will start looking to sell. I just started recording by year what I have and trying to gauge potential value. At what potential value should someone get a card graded? Are all 1986 Fleer Jordan cards worth getting graded? If I have 4 Elway rookies do I get them all graded? At the same time or one at a time? Sounds like PSA is the way to go for grading of potentially higher value cards but what about grading of lesser valuable cards, are there other good options ?

Yes all 86 fleer Jordan’s should be graded, with caveats. If they’re in really bad shape, maybe wait for a lower price tier to get graded. If in great shape ship em in now if you’re looking to sell them.
Your best bet would be to go to PSA’s website and check the Auction Prices Realized (APR) of each card of yours in question, and click on the corresponding grade of what you think it may grade at. Also, check out PSA’s videos that walk you through a PSA 1 to a PSA 10 to help determine what your cards may possibly grade at. If you think some of your cards would pull 5 figures, send them in now if you want (if you’re going to sell them).
If you’re wanting to keep all your cards in the same slab from the same company, just hold tight on the lower end ones. Hope this helps!
I speak for everyone here when I say put up some pictures, especially of those 86 Fleer Jordan's
I just have one of these, but multiples of others like the Elways like Marino, Montana, Payton, etc. I also have stickers, which I have always liked but don’t appear to carry a lot of value. Are there ever discounts on getting a group of cards graded or is it just “by the card”?
Beauty Jordan, looks like a chance at an 8 if the only issue are those top corners and minor edge chipping. The Marino's all look to be off centered though, likely 8 max on the best centered one of those (if corners/edges/surface all check out to be within NM-MT condition). I don't think the Rice would grade over a 7.
That’s exactly the kind of insight that I need. I go back and forth between being too critical and not enough in my own evaluations.
Most people who haven't graded yet are usually not critical enough, but it appears that you are doing well. We've had multiple new posters in the past few months that think their card is a PSA 9 or 10 and it's actually probably somehwhere between PSA 3 and 6. you seem to be on the correct path.

Here are a few more of many others, just don’t have pictures.
Trimmer, do your cards justice and grade! Great cards!
I just have so many, and will have to grade a few , sell to get more grading money. I just have gotten through organizing one year and starting on a different year. But I did start with the year that I have the most of. Thanks for the input. I can definitely benefit from everything
I know some of my late 1970’s cards won’t grade well. Is there much of a market for those?
It depends what you have. Perhaps take some time and do research on key cards for specific years and then look up what certain grades sell for an eBay to get a good idea. But you have to spend time and learn all over about the hobby because it has certainly changed from the last time you collected.
At $200 each, very few of your cards would be worth grading.

Put these away for approximately two years and pull them back out and re-check the grading fee structure at that time.

Would you consider a different grading company that is still offering lower service levels?
Grade the Jordan and consign it somewhere. That will more than cover all your fees for all of the cards you've shown.
You've got nice, gradeable cards here. Good luck!
Just grade the Jordan. Rice is a 5. Raw is the best way to sell the Rest
