Let's "face" it, Max Muncy has a kind face -- the kind I'd like to (fill in the blanks)

What did y'all think of the bush-league "laser pointer incident" at the recent Mets/Dodgers game? How can such an incident be prevented?

It can be prevented by issuing a beatdown, like the one at the Rams vs Chargers game.
Strange title for a thread. I thought it was an anti-Maxy thread, until I read further, which seemed odd since he is one of the best stories in baseball. Cut by the A's a few years ago and now in the MVP convo.
An anti-Maxy thread? Heavens no. He's a career .245 hitter and .238 hitter in the postseason. What more could you want from your First Baseman?
I'm nearly certain that the "laser pointer dude" was simply irritated by the Dodger propensity to "pat their helmet".
Breaking News: In Trevor Bauer's court hearing today, the judge ruled that Bauer must "pat the helmet" of every Dodger that reaches base for the remainder of the season. Wow, that'll teach him not to misbehave!
Does anyone feel sorry for Max Muncy, Clayton Kershaw, or any of the "Head Patters"?
In San Francisco, they have the "Willie Mac Award". Question: Does LA have a General 'Pattin' Award?
Charlie
Yes there is such an award in Los Angeles. It's called:
USC, 'Least Inspirational player" award. Given to the player who generates the most penalty yardage with Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties. *Gold plated if a penalty causes SC to lose the game( as in 2018). Always a lot of competition for this award. They have another award, I can't remember the name, given to the player while on the sidelines who smacks the QB, JT Daniels and prompts the QB to transfer to Georgia.
O p........ " Not kiss"
I can honestly say I have no idea who this guy is and what this thread is about. I’m just padding my post total.

Let me spell it out for you, 2dueces. Not many people east of LA root for the Dodgers -- and so we're hoping that this team of "Dodger Dogs" fails to win a championship this year. We're not sorry that Muncy and Kershaw have sustained non-life-threatening injuries. We're also happy that the highest-payroll team couldn't catch the Giants down the stretch. We only wish that Dodger players could conduct themselves like Buster Posey (a humble, very successful, baseball HOF'er).
If I recall correctly, the mighty Dodgers have won only one championship in the last 30 years -- and that's average given the number of MLB teams. [Shouldn't the highest-payroll team win more often than that?] Very few fans (outside of LA) want to see those helmet-patting, self-aggrandizing Dodgers win anything.
Here's my suggestion to LA fans: Start rooting for the LA Chargers -- they're led by a fine, talented young man named Justin Herbert. I guarantee that you won't see Herbert patting himself on the helmet.
@charliej2356 Thanks for clearing that up for me.

You're welcome, 2dueces.
BTW, I like your W.C.Fields quote. A sense of humor is essential these days.
Sort of a hater thread but whatever makes you feel good about yourself.> @charliej2356 said:
I am just going to hazard a guess that if you checked jersey sales (or other ways to measure fandom) the Dodgers have a lot of fans east of LA. Like most celebrated teams they have a lot of haters (like you) and a lot of fans. Worldwide there is a clear #1 baseball team - the Yankees. I have been to many countries and you'll see Yankees stuff. However, I would say the Dodgers are likely #2 internationally. In particular in Asian countries, which I have traveled to, the Dodgers are very popular. However, that's beyond the point that just in the US the Dodgers are extremely popular. Why else do the Dodgers consistently have the highest or second highest ROAD attendance in MLB? Just so haters can come out and jeer them? That seems unlikely.
As for the patting on the helmet thing I certainly don't love it but is it really that big of a deal that you make it out to be? I think I have seen you mention that on here at least 5 times and it doesn't seem like a big deal to me. It's sort of stupid but some people probably the high 5 was stupid and that was, at least arguably, started by Dodger Glenn Burke. Professional athletes have been finding new ways to celebrate their success forever. Again, I don't love it and, like you, I appreciate a guy like Buster Posey. However, if a guy wants to pat himself on the helmet not sure it's worth getting your panties in a wad about!? Just my thoughts.
Also, as stated above, Max Muncy is one of the best stories in baseball (released to top 10 MVP candidate). He's a class act and a great baseball player. You going to start a Justin Turner thread next? Or maybe what a jerk Mookie Betts is? There are jerks on every professional team but the Dodgers have some extremely good examples of high level professionals, like these three, even if they pat their helmets after a hit.
Good luck to your team!
