NFL Twitter is all over him about this. Another comment said this is what he looked like trying to block:

That was ridiculous lol, it’s preseason but still. I mean he has all those muscles so why not use them?

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

It's going to be very interesting to see how Urban Meyer handles this.

Tebow is going to have to get it right, clean it up son, this is how you block son, like an inflatable raft box being opened by a curious shopper!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

The more I see this play, the more angrier I get, you need to be more aggressive son, use those muscles, don't be polite to the opposing team, hit them. Oh god!

    Tebow on the block....

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

No, no, Tim Tebow on the freaking block......!

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

You've got to be aggressive son, like this!

All that time playing baseball made him soft. ;)

Judging from what I saw at the Rams/Chargers game last night, I think that Tebow play may just be the new normal for preseason games. No hard hitting. Everyone pulling back on blocks, sacking the QB with kid gloves, etc. A real snooze fest. Never saw anything like it. Too much money on the line to risk an injury in a meaningless game.

  • HydrantHydrant Posts: 7,773 ✭✭✭✭✭

Also, with the new 17 game schedule there's plenty of time for a team to get it together during the season. And....if all the teams play "soft" during the person then they all start the regular season on equal footing. I haven't seen any other preseason games. Any opinions guys?

Here you go, here's a summary of the preseason!

Hey, DD....you NAILED IT! The fighting in the stands last night was more fierce than the action on the field........HONEST!

The Lovely Mrs. Hydrants post- game analysis, "They should have just given everyone a basket of flowers and had them toss them in the air." It was that bad.

Mr Tebow was, is and will always be an offensive minded skill position person.
No likey blocking. He better learn to like it and do it or Meyer won't need to explain anything to him this year or next.

    Have a nice day

he is being "roasted" and yet the block was effective if only because the blocked player anticipated more and turned away from him. the downside for Tebow is that "the jig is up" for him. Teams watching film will see that his heart isn't in it and the next time he tries to block someone he'll probably be blown up.

I doubt it, those titles went to Rae Carruth and Ray Lewis.

extremely weak. he’s definitely not getting POP TARTS tonight.

Not sure my edit made this any better - Todd

I don’t think Miss Universe cares how well he blocks. Just a hunch.
I doubt Urban brought him in with hopes of big blocks, either.
The block was weak, but Twitter just needed an opening to start roasting him.

stupid original auto-correct spellcheck function. was supposed to say he’s never getting “lei’d”. you know. because thats certainly not pro-bowl blocking material.

  • He's use to getting toasted. It slips right off of him. He's immune to it

I wish it had turned out differently. As I have said before, I am a huge fan.

    Sorry @doubledragon

Yes, I just heard the news, I edited the title of the thread. I feel bad for him, I really thought he had a chance to make the team, especially with Urban Meyer in charge. That preseason performance really hurt him.

He's really a guy without a position. Excellent athlete just not elite enough. No shame in that

    ...........
When you are looking for a thread idea someday @doubledragon , you should make one taking us through the craziness of the Broncos comeback win over the Dolphins in 2011. I think they were down 15-0 late in the 4th quarter. Ended up winning in overtime. It was a wild ride.

That is a great idea, as a matter of fact, I might make it a greatest NFL comebacks thread, so we can talk about other great comebacks as well. ;)

Here is a video of another block attempt by Tebow in the preseason game, he's lined up on the right side, and you can see the defender just throws him aside like it's nothing. I think the Jaguars did make the right decision.

As jacked as he might be he is so small in comparison

And you just know Urban Meyer watched the film over and over of Tebow in that preseason game and knew instantly that Tebow wasn't going to be able to play tight end. I mean, those attempts to block were just awful, he would've gotten destroyed in regular season play when guys are giving full effort.

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 30,638 ✭✭✭✭✭

Well I was wrong, I really thought Meyer was going to hook him up. Maybe if he actually tried a little more blocking he might have made it lol

I really thought Urban would let him on the team too, that preseason game killed his chances, just awful.

I mean even I would have done a better job on that block. I’m not sure what he was thinking

That first block attempt was bad, and that second one he just got tossed aside like garbage, he'd get killed in a regular season game. I don't know what he was thinking.
