bid retractions on eBay -- a thing of the past?

i know there have been a lot of changes in the trading card realm on eBay, but apparently i was unaware of this little nugget........primarily because i don't sell in an auction format very often.

long story short, a dude is trying to retract his bid on one of my listings (i'm cool with it), but he can't pull the trigger and by the looks of it neither can i on my end. and the surreal kicker was clicking on the bid history and reading "trading cards are not eligible for bid retraction."

is this truly the new norm? anyone else have an experience to share?

yes, i think it was noted back in early july that bid retractions now had to be approved by the seller starting july 26thish or something like that.

w ebay, its kinda in one ear and out the other for me. too little, way too late i guess.

    appreciate it.

    i see this...

"Starting June 30, if a Trading Card buyer wishes to retract an auction bid, they will need to contact the seller via messaging on eBay to request a retraction. The seller will, at their sole discretion, be able to accept or reject the buyer's retraction request."

...but it goes no further. he and i have been hitting the ball back over the net privately, but neither one of us knows what to do beyond that.

for 2+ decades i've been losing my mind with eBay allowing bid retractions, but now that i'm trying to put one into effect myself i can't figure out how to do it.

    bizarro world much?

    exactly. 😉

all these supposed changes for the better but somehow become even more frustrating and result in so much wasted time. 3 bid retractions a year (still too many, i know) and thats it. no approvals, no requests, no messages back and forth and certainly no wasting time on the weekend how to even approve a request.
