Currency Art

Just picked this up at the estate sale of the artist, James "Gordy" Gordon, and thought I'd share. Any Hawaii note collectors out there?

    Interesting.
Actually, a Fr.2300 is a Silver Certificate and features the large “HAWAII” on the back in black ink. I’m guessing that’s where he got the idea.

That was my first reaction, too- that overprint should be on back....and it's on the wrong note.

Ours brains are trained to see this as a collectible first and art second. Most people see the art first.

Collector and dealer in obsolete currency. Always buying all obsolete bank notes and scrip.

Fantasy piece? Anyway, I generally pick up any numismatic-related art at these sales.
