Young Numismatist: Cherishing Historic Cash

Below is an excerpt from our latest YN article, be sure to follow the link for the full story!

"I am a 15-year-old numismatist from Southern California specializing in East Asian cash. My journey in numismatics began when my grandfather, an avid traveler from Taiwan, gifted me 66 coins representing each year he had then lived. Initially, I didn’t think much about them, other than admiring their variety. Around mid-2014, I was cleaning my room when I found that small tin box, stashed at the back of my desk drawer. Curiously, I opened it and started sorting out the coins, while appreciating them for their cool designs. It was around then that I got a bit crazy for coins."

Outstanding! The best quote from the article: "sent me on a one-way path to obsession". I think most of us have all experienced that moment in our collecting journey. Get that YN on the forum to stoke the passion......

Wow! What a great story. He has a connection to the coins and can (hopefully) get them for reasonable prices since I don't think most cash coins have increased like other Chinese coins.

Not to mention that we need more collectors and researchers in this very fertile area of numismatics.
