It works. I filed a claim for a lost shipment last night and received a payout for the loss today.

It can't work. It's ebay. They suck at everything. [End sarcasm.]

I've been waiting to see how it works.

The downside is you have to wait 30 days after shipping before you can file a claim. 1 paid and 1 waiting for the 30 days to pass out of 50 or so sales I don't like that ebay follows the same guidelines on an item not received claim on the standard shipping. So many never show delivery and many are very late. I think ebay is gambling on the honor system and I think my last was a good example. He claims many lost packages and the 1 claim that was paid the buyer did find and paid for. I hope all will push to stop the abusers(thieves). I also hope ebay is keeping dibs on who files a claim. This is a good deal as I'm selling lottsa stuff that would just languish away otherwise. I consider it busy work! :#

That's still faster than USPS who won't even insure 1st class letters.

USPS will insure 1st class parcels. Perhaps flats are a different story.

Thanks for the info. Good to know this. Since I was talked into the standard envelope idea, I have mailed about 50 items so far with the eBay standard envelope and all have been delivered, so far.

I've shipped over 500 items by eBay standard without incident.

I just mailed my first 'eBay Standard Envelope' item yesterday...I was not aware of it's existence and was printing addresses & using stamps. Very easy to use and it sounds like the delivery will be OK. Good to know about the claim process...thanks for posting!
