BBCE. A Great Experience

Called BBCE a couple of weeks ago and asked them if I could drop off 10 Topps baseball vending cases , 2 of which are 1984 and the rest 87-89 . 20 assorted football and baseball wax boxes. I told the person I was speaking with that all I wanted to do was drop them off and wait my turn in line. I said if it 6+ months or longer that was fine. I didn't want any special treatment. They said sure.I dropped them off today. They could not have been nicer. When they they get done, I will make the road trip to pick them up. Can't wait for the results. Thank you BBCE!!

Great to hear they treated you well (but not too surprising, of course for most of us around here). I don’t do anything close to the business I did with them when I was single and kid-less, but do still check the site frequently, and noticed something in the past month or two I thought was slightly noteworthy. At the height of the pandemic prices, ‘87 Football packs were on the site for $12. They are now $9. Of course, some might say they had to be reduced because prices have dropped, but It occurred to me that a lot of sites would’ve hit that threshold and not ever looked back. OG class acts.

A good business model is to keep up with trends + or - to maximize sales. A successful "retail" business realizes cash flow is paramount. Items gathering dust on shelf is negative to profit. Sadly this something many Dealers and Store owner never learn...

Just wanted to state that I was not surprised by service and attention. They just went above and beyond. Super friendly and professional. As busy as they are, and I was even in back room where several of the staff were just going full throttle, I still got great service. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thank you BBCE 👍👍

I sent some 80s wax boxes for authentication/wrapping a few months ago. Shortly after they arrived there, I received an email from Steve Hart himself regarding my 85 Donruss wax box. I was pretty impressed that he was still involved at that level, considering the volume and inventory they must go through on a daily basis.

  • BBCE is incredible. Never submitted anything, but I bought some packs and boxes from them, and their packaging is absolutely superb! I dont deal with them anymore, since I stopped collecting wax, but they are definitely the go-to place for anyone who does sealed material.

Steve is absolutely involved at that level, as he is the only authenticator. If it is a sealed case, he will inspect the outside of the case and then have staff wrap the boxes inside. If it is a box of packs, he is the one who inspects the packs. Not anyone else. This has led to the backlog to a certain extent as submissions exploded, but it also is why the hobby trusts BBCE the way that it does. The buck stops with Steve, who also happens to be one of the nicest guys in the business.

I couldn't agree more. Saying hello and shaking his hand was definitely one of my National highlights.

If you have BBCE authenticate a sealed case, how does that work? Do they unseal it, wrap each individual box, reseal the case and then wrap the case itself?

You have a couple of options...if you want the whole case wrapped (especially like a 3 box rack case) then Steve inspects the case, determines if he agrees that it is factory sealed, and then they will wrap the whole case intact. If you want the boxes inside the case individually wrapped, Steve will authenticate the case as factory sealed, then staff will open the case, pull out all of the boxes, wrap the boxes and note them as "FASC" and then place them back inside the box. Usually they will put a piece of tape over the top of the box just to hold the lid down, but they don't then reseal the case.

They are always top notch. Two quick stories:
I went through their eBay site and found a bunch of 1979 auto cards that I needed for my set. They gave me 10% off, and with the volume I bought I got free shipping.

I drove there from Milwaukee in spring with seven boxes including 81 Topps, 82-85 Donruss, 84 Fleer and an 84 Topps box to get authenticated. I expected it to be six months or longer because of the process. I got an email from Steve that everything was ready good and wrapped just over a month later. I was absolutely floored at how fast he was able to get to them. The cost to have them authenticated was extremely reasonable too! Way less than what I had expected. Those boxes were the last of the heavy hitters I needed authenticated for my 79-89 run of BBCE boxes, so I was extra stoked. Always a great experience with BBCE!
